"his(Pacquiao's) handlers' preference that their cash cow not be maimed in a cage means nothing will ever come of this" -classic jake rossen

Maybe the tone comes off poorly but I think the basic idea is right on. It would be an enormous financial mistake for Pac and his handlers/promoters to have an MMA fight. Talk about poor risk/reward.

Uh... maybe because he would outweight pac by about 30lbs? i dont know... just a thought.

GSP fights at 170lbs.... Pac vs GSP makes no sense at all.

Pac probably wouldn't fight in UFC unless they did a one time special of 145 weight limit. UFC lowest is 155.

And if Pac did MMA, that would be a big blow to boxing. One of the biggest and best fighters ever decides to "try" MMA as if boxing isn't exciting enough for him.

And if he loses... boxing would take an even bigger blow.

    Source.

Well, I believe he took some karate before but that wouldn't be enough for MMA.

I could see him doing well. Not easy, but certainly possible. He's probably faster, harder-hitting, more fleet footed, physically durable, and more technically dynamic in terms of striking than anyone in his weight class in MMA. His style lends itself well to more varied fighting scenarios in my opinion.

Haha, yea I was loling at the GSP vs Pac. I'm sure Blur could kick some midget ass too in MMA. If Pac learns a proper ground game he could be respectable. He's already got a background in muay thau. Imagine Pac vs Yodsanklai, damn!

Haha, this. "Probably" don't mean **** when you get taken to the ground and submitted. Striking don't mean **** if you don't have a ground game to force people to strike against you in the first place. And with Pac, only a moron would stand there and strike and trade blows with him.

The quality of his physical abilities and technical skills in boxing can carry over well into many mma fight scenarios. Silva is known for avoiding takedowns with his footspeed for example, and Pacquiao can dart in and out like nobody else. He would be wise to learn wrestling/ground-game as much as he could, but that's not to say his abilities as a boxer can't help him deal with facets of mixed martial arts offense. Defensively keeping a smart distance, getting hard punches off first with excellent speed and timing, and having some of the best striking on the planet will certainly aid a fighter when attempting to learn to adapt to different combat styles in a different but not completely alien sport.

    :rofl

Loving this theorizing how Pacquiao might perform in MMA. It's like speculating what would happen to a poodle if it got ****ed by a rhino. Pacquiao is a true world class athlete. They don't have anybody in MMA that is in the same galaxy with a Manny Pacquiao. Good jokes.

That's like putting him in the deep end right off the bat. Aldo is a badass and he might tear Pac's head off. Dude is downright vicious.
