Caroline Wozniacki. She just won her 2nd tournament this month.

Hails from Denmark, but definitely Polish. Great win this past weekend against Chakvetadze. Crushed her 6-1 in the 3rd set!

Certainly hope she can rise to the top the way that Sharapova did.

    Good pics on her site...

    He's fighting again soon.

He's getting with a new trainer and team and wants to get down to 147.

    Still very motivated!

Good news, hopefully he will improve and keep going forward. Although to be honest my hope for him grabbing a belt have somewhat faded.

I've spoke to Proksa yesterday and its very unlikely to put Super G on Adamek undercard. Altough he will go and sparr with whole Adamek team in USA. So maybe there is some chance he will fight on that card but today we can say that it is very very very slim chance. He also is very worried that all the media are taking Adamek beating USS as granted whereas he thinks it will be tought fight. Fortunetly Gmitruk stays calm, focused and he knows Adamek needs to show his 110% to beat Steve.

Good post, Pirlo. Tell us more about your personal relation with Proksa. You guys are friends, I guess?

Adamek beating Cunn will not be easy, but I feel confident that Tomasz will do what he has to do to win.

When is Proksa gonna fight again?:huh

He will fight again in October in Germany. He said that he wants to fight finally in Poland badly but it aint that easy in his case. I guess I can tell you that before Andy Lee lost to Brian Vera and was undefeated supa dupa prospect, Proksa's coach came to Manny Steward and said : I have a guy that wont let Lee past 8 rounds, but Manny just shoke his shoulders and was not interesting in this fight. And I know name of the guy that almost for sure will fight with Grzegorz in the next year. All I can say that this guy is american, much bigger size than Proksa, has great record and famous name. It should be on US TV i guess. But cant tell more as for now. I dont want to jinx it cause its Super G chance to shine.

Super G is a boxing commentator in the same tv I am comentating tennis and thats why I know him.

Thats pretty cool! Doing tennis commentary. My next favorite sport!

I'll bet the guy Proksa is gunning for is Andre Ward, but you don't have to comment yes or no...

    :good

PolishPummler...where are you? This Pirlo guy is making for some good posts here. Curious to hear what you think about his comments.

From a cutout of an article on polskiboks.

So it looks like the Adamek fight will not be taking place in Chicago, but either NYC or Atlantic city then?

Also in the news is Golota may have a tune up fight in a few weeks, before a bigger fight with Briggs in China.

God i cant wait for an official fight date for Adamek.

Proksa will make noise despite now being a part time TV commentator.

WTF Pirlo you communicate with him and are just now telling us about it?

    Make that 3 fights.

Pawel Wolak returns to headline “Havoc At The Hilton”

Sept. 26 at Huntington Hilton Hotel

NEW YORK CITY (August 27, 2008) – Promoter Bob Duffy today announced that his Ring Promotions will present “Havoc At The Hilton,” featuring Polish power puncher Pawel “Raging Bull” Wolak (21-1, 14 KOs), Friday night, September 26 at the Huntington Hilton Hotel.

Wolak, originally from Poland and now living and training in Brooklyn, is coming off his first pro loss August 21 to Ishe Smith (20-3, 9 KOs), star of The Contender Season 1, by a close 10-round decision. The 26-year-old Wolak is the reigning WBC Interim USNBC and Polish International light middleweight champion. He faces Chad Greenleaf (10-10-1, 4 KOs) in the eight-round main event on Sept. 26.

“Pawel is a real fighter who wanted to get right back into the ring after his first loss,” Duffy said. “He’s one of the most explosive punchers around and has a very enthusiastic fan base. Everybody gets their money’s worth at a Pawel Wolak fight. We also have some of the most popular, entertaining fighters from the Long Island area on this card.”

Also fighting on the card are Long Island welterweight Mike Ruiz (8-2, 5 KOs), New York State heavyweight champion Darrel Madison (10-1, 3 KOs), out of Central Islip and riding a nine-fight win streak, Merrick heavyweight Costa Philippou (3-0, 1 KO), Garden City welterweight Kevin “Irish Storm” Collins (8-8-2, 2 KOs), veteran Harlem light heavyweight George “Blaze” Walton (18-3, 12 KOs), and Brooklyn light heavyweight Will Rosinsky (1-0, 1 KO), three-time U.S. National Golden Gloves champion.

Tickets are priced at $100.00 (Golden Ringside), $75.00 (Ringside) and $40.00 (General Admission). VIP tables of 10 are $1500. To purchase tickets go to www.ringpromotions.com or call 516.313.2304. Doors open at 6:30 PM, first bout at 7:30 PM.

Damn, great to see Wolak jumping right back into it. Wish him the best :happy

I support Wolak, but his limitations were made clear in his last outing. Only under special circumstances (like being extremely selective in picking opponents) do I ever see him wearing a strap. He desperately needs to learn how to be a lot more selective both in punching and in coming toward his opponents. Choosing to move forward/punching from different angles and counter punching would help his development tremendously. Without these dimensions, he will look like a dumb fighter against good and crafty competition. He should seriously consider hooking up with Adamek's trainer Gmitruk for help in getting to the next level. I heard nothing helpful out of his corner against Smith and its ridiculous to suggest (as the promo article does) that the fight was a close one, when it simply wasn't. Still for a dude who started boxing very late - only after seeing Golota - he's done very well.
