I for one think Pac and Floyd will inevitably fight despite all the posturing and insults.

So the idea that Pac is sparring Forbes now partly to get accustomed to "the slick style of fighting" seems like a reasonable analysis.

Lampley said this before the Corely bout(or maybe it was Merhcant.) Mayweather of course beat the **** out of Corely and beat 2 other Soutpaws in his next 3 bouts. That first southpaw he fought was in his second pro fight. His dad is overprotective. Mayweather has a great left hook and a great straight right. He and Hopkins are two of the best equipped orthodox fighters to take on a southpaw.

offensively Mayweather is well equipped to take on a southpaw but defensively he has some obvious gaps

Not really. Against Corley he squared himself up and was throwin bombs when he got caught. Now Judah caught him with a damn good straight left counter shot. Defensively, he's better againt righties. But he's pretty good defensively against lefties as well.

If Floyd got buzzed by southpaw Corley, what will happen if Floyd faces buzzsaw southpaw Pacquiao? :D

Against an offense like Pac's, probably the best offensive southpaw of all time, "Pretty good" just might not be good enough. And Pac is pretty good defensively himself, although he doesn't get much credit for it.

I agree with your post. I always thought they'd be stupid to fight Mayweather so quickly after cotto, they need all the time they could get. I hope they don't overlook Clottey though. Clottey could upset the Pac express if he's taken lightly.

possible, after the clottey fight though pac will be focusing on his campaign for the upcoming elections which will completeley take his mind off of boxing.. not exactly a good scenario to build off momentum for a fight with pbf.

De La Hoya picked Forbes in preperation for a rematch with Floyd.. there styles are close..

Forbes was giving just as good as he was getting in that fight..

I agree. This was my initial impression. Seems to have more credence now.
