true. I guess by create he meant to say market. There are alot of fighters out there that bring excitement and energy but unfortunately not in the heavy's.
Boxing has new stars. It's just the average person in America doesn't give a damn about the sport probably because there is no "Undisputed American" heavyweight champion. Who the hell are they to care we didn't even invent the sport. It's not the Klitschko's fault they ruin everyone and most of their opponents fight just for paydays. Those morons need to realize there are other divisions such as the welterweight division. That division is hot! Personally I'm biased because I mostly look at fights from the lower divisions. Rarely do I look at heavyweight fights. There are young stars to appeal to all like Haye, Chambers, Berto, Adamek, it's the average person that is missing out not us on ESB so props to you all!
He sounds like someone who doesn't watch boxing and who suffers from herd mentality. Boxers don't become named fighters until you watch. People in the media need to start realizing that. The skills are there in every weight class. If the mainstream media is waiting for another Tyson to transcend the sport, boxing will truly be dead in America. With the exception of this last debacle, the promoters have been doing a very good job of matchmaking and working in cooperation to make the best fights happen, and yet those great match-ups still don't receive the recognition they deserve. I hate to say this, but I think the mainstream media is tired of pumping up a fight that displays a tactical and a less than aesthetically pleasing fight on the big stage. It almost seems as if the mainstream media picks the wrong match-up to show the world. They make a big deal about the Mayweather-Marquez fight and it blows, yet they completely miss out on Williams-Martinez or Diaz-Marquez. Unfortunately, boxing needs it's biggest names to shine on the big stage in order to pass the torch to the younger fighters or there won't be another torch to pass.
Popularity comes and goes...see the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL...boxing is no different. The difference is that the true fans sit patiently through it all. Highs and the lows.
Who cares what he says? He's not a fan, whatever, move on. I'm not a fan of Hockey or Basketball does it mean it's dying? Every sport has a fan base. Boxing is no different and it will still be relevent until the end. Just like Baseball, Football, Futbol, etc.
