peter doesnt suck at all. he isnt the most skilled fighter around, but he does show real heart and seems willing to face anybody. thats more than we can say for that joke of a wba title holder.

 

Exactly, Lewis proved time and time again he could go punch for punch with even the biggest hitters, he did against Bruno, Briggs, Mercer, and Vitali. Wlad is afraid to exchange blows with anyone, he knows his chin cant hold up against the big hitters, that's why he generally will break his fighters down with the jab for the first half of the fight and then start dropping the right by the middle rounds, it's a caution first approach, and it works, he should really thank Manny for saving his career from embarassment after embarassment.

 

Back to reality, he won both fights, its even on his record to prove this if you want to take a look:deal

and that is the mother ****in truth, Manny was brought in to teach him how to work behind the jab sink a right hand every now and then hook off the jab and tie your man up.
with out Manny Wlad wouldnt even be around these days.

I've had this conversation with Zakman before. I don't know how we put a guy that took regular shots from Bruno, Tyson, Tua and Vitali in the same league as Wlad for chin. Lewis's defence was probably not quite as good as Wlad's either, and he still didn't get knocked out, down or even hurt as much.

Their fighting style completely reflects the respective chins and the confidence in it. Lewis was safety first indeed, and was much criticised for it, but we saw how if required he could open up against Golota. He'd also throw a much greater variety of punches, and leave himself more open. Wlad won't do anything until mid-rounds, and until his opponent has had every last drop of will eeked away by the jab. It's painful to watch the heavyweight champion fighting like that.

 

Peter does not suck. But he is very much overhyped and limted as a fighter, particularly a champion. I WILL watch him though, because his fights are always somehow entertaining. Still, I feel the truth will be told regarding his ability if/when he fights Vitali or when he fights Wlad again (assuming Vitali comes up lame again).

 

Eh, so you dislike Wlad for his style. Nothing concrete here except criticism of stylistic aesthetics. If it's okay for you to drop him from the A range where he probably belongs to the high B range based on sheer dislike, then it's okay for me to drop Peter from the B range where he maybe belongs to the high C range based on sheer dislike.

It's nothing to do with how much I like him. I don't like him, he's boring. But I do actually think his chin is far worse than Lewis's, and his powers of recovery certainly are. He wobbles about all over the place :-(

 

No it doesnt work that way, you dont drop someone on sheer dislike right now the best two heavyweights are Peter and Wlad its not either of their faults that they are trapped in a weak divison right now, so basicly in reality both are B but when you look at the rest of the Top Heavys it makes them both an A when you stack them up to the rest of the fighters.
No A plus for either because Wlad lacks that mental toughness and a solid chin, no A plus for Peter either becuase he doesnt have all the basic fundementals you like to see in a top teir fighter, and his chin to is suspect.

 

Without Manny he would of turned into the laughing stock of the heavyweight division, as the great RJJ perdicted. Manny has taught Wlad well on how to guard an extremely weak chin, excessive clinching(Peter Fight), and to lean on fighters backs to wear them out (Peter and Brewster), his whole fight game now centered around the jab and if the opertunity is there, he will shoot the right hand. He has become boring, scared, and very cautious since Manny started training him, but like my old trainer told me, it dont matter how you look in the ring, all that matters is that win, and Wlad has been winning.
