    James Toney.

Floyd has good defense but he needs to jump back alot so he depends more on his quickness.

Toney will stand right in front of you and still not get hit. plus like someone else said, Toney has knocked out alot of fighters with his counter right.

Toney might have a better shoulder role, I dunno, he fights at a heavier weight where the styles are very different.

Overall Floyd outclasses Toney in just about every category.

Mayweather has more of a textbook shoulder roll. He goes into that perfect shell with the right glove held high, and the left shoulder up protecting jis chin and just rolls everything. Toney rolls punches with a little but more freestyle, but he is very effective with the counter right hand. Both of them are impressive to watch.

:good Very good point noob. Toney's fight with a dangerous, bigger, stronger, fighters like Jirov and the heavys comes to mind. Think Floyd would pull it off late in his career without getting tagged? I think not.

toney had the best in the business, hell he won fights just by using it when he was too lazy to do anything else

Why is it that some trainers don't teach the shoulder roll? It seems that the angle presented when doing the roll keeps the midsection and head relatively safe from straight shots-- while putting the rollee in an advantageous i.e. better counter position if one is to use the jab to counter. When facing an adversary in the traditional stance i.e. both hands held high, it is easier to keep track of the opponents' hands whereas if one hand is up high and the other is at hip level (shoulder roll- style) there is more territory to concern oneself with. A jab from someone in a shoulder roll can set up a situation where a jab feint could divert an opponents' attention downward allowing an opening for an overhead right. Am I full of crap or what? Close range, inside: Toney
Mid to long range, outside: Mayweather
    :thumbsup

    Toney's also ambidextrous with it.

Because while it looks pretty easy when JT or PBF do it, it's actually really hard. You might be able to slip 1 or 2 punches but if somebody completely bombards you, you will get hit.. a lot. The pro's who can pull it off can fire right back out of the shoulder roll which keeps people respectful.

JT can stand infront of someone and just shoulder roll without moving his feet once for a whole round. PBF is more well rounded and can fight moving backwards, forward, jabs his opponent and uses different guards (namely high guard where he just covers everything and lets people take shots at him). Not that JT is a slouch that only used the shoulder roll, but boy did he master it! JT shoulder roll > Mayweather shoulder roll any day...
