the film is brilliant where he say he aint using a penny of his own money to stage the fight and pay the fighters , and when he goes to shake the guys hand in the toilets the guy says something along the lines of wash your hands first don , don replys i always wash my hands before holding the king or something to that affect

If there is any justice in this world, King will be remembered as the exploiter and con-man he is - and all true boxing fans should applaud this because this parasite has done more to take advantage of the men who literally put their lives on the line in the ring, than just about anybody in the history of the sport.

King is SCUM, a leach, and a parasite - and he should be remember for EXACTLY what he is. Someone who USED fighters to build a fortune, ripped them off again and again. That is the truth about Don King.

I know he was convicted of manslaughter & served time in jail for beating a guy to death. Some dispute about the numbers racket I believe. This was years before he got into boxing. Also wasn't Don beaten up real bad around the time of the Ali- Foreman fight?
Don promoted some fantastic fights that's for sure but he also robbed a few fighters. Randall Tex Cobb went 15 rounds with Larry Holmes & ended up with nothing after Don convinced him how bad he lost $$$$$ on the fight
I've met Don a couple of times over the years & found him to be very congenial & friendly always cracking jokes. But in saying that I don't think I'd let Don look after my money for me

King shot Hillary Brown in the back. King was found guilty of stomping to death Sam Garrett. Mike Tyson said "King is a wretched, slimy, reptilian mother****er. He's just a bad man, a real bad man. He would kill his own mother for a dollar. He's ruthless, he's deplorable, he's greedy... and he doesn't know how to love anybody". i.e. a real "nice guy"

OK, You're right. There were two guys. The first case was a guy trying to rob one of king's businesses. That was justifiable homicide. The second case was a FIGHT between king and an employee. The way it reads, Sam Garrett wasn't just a poor victim who just let himself be pistol whipped to death. Sam Garrett was a criminal who WANTED to kill King too and was TRYING to kill King. They had a hellacious fight between them. Fortunately for King, he won the fight which resulted in Garrett's death. This could be viewed as a "stand your ground" case. King was defending himself and had to kill garrett to stop garrett from killing him. But you never hear that side of it, right? All you hear is that King stomped and pistol whipped the guy to death then paid off the judges so he could get out of jail early. None of that even holds up to even a little research on the internet. That's what I'm talking about the racist bullsh8t that gets spread about Don King to make him seem like the bogey man. Especially when great champs of the past were getting sucked dry by their white managers and promoters and nobody ever said a damn word about it. If you ask me, a lot of the hate and smear campaign against king had to do with bitterness over the fact that he was paying black fighters what they were really worth and taking away business from white promoters who felt that they had a birthright to control the careers of black fighters.

You might also have a point that if those were white men, he may not have gotten off...but to tell a man that he should let himself be robbed or killed by another man just because the other guy is black, is fked up logic.

Don King was the greatest boxing promoter ever. I miss the big events he would put on back in the day, with three or four superfights on one card. King got a really bad rap because he was a black boxing promoter who moved in on the "territory" of white promoters and took it over. They said he was bad for boxing, that he ripped off fighters and he was a crook. But if you look at the guys who fought for him, they made millions more than they would have made under any other promoter. ali, holmes, tyson, leonard, roy jones jr, sweetpea, chavez sr, all those guys made tens and hundreds of millions fighting for king. compare them with the likes of sugar ray robinson, joe louis, archie moore, etc, who all ended their careers flat BROKE. Fact is, despite all the bad press he got, fighters WANTED to fight for King...because he was where the money was.

Under king, the fans AND the fighters made out pretty damn good. back then, you would pay $20 and see a ppv fight headlined by tyson with a tito trinidad or terry norris or hopkins or michael nunn title fight on the undercard. These days, it's $70 for a pacman or floyd fight with a couple of unknown guys that nobody cares about on the undercard...

Looks to me like, despite all the lies we were told, king was actually one of the BEST things that ever happened to boxing and today's promoters GB, TR, etc pretty much suck and rip off the fans.

anyone that researched don king and knows of don king and likes him, even a little bit, is as filthy a piece of sh** as he is.he is one of the most evil types of person that ever walked the earth.this guy is a SNAKE! pure EVIL! everything thats wrong with a human is don king.

I love Don King and I truly get angry when so called Boxing fans talk **** on him!! Not only did Don King make the big fights happen but he actually did his job, he was one hell of a promoter!!! There is still nobody out there than can promote better than Don King!!

This is spot on....if all the people here are genuinely the boxing fans they are trying to make themselves out to be, they should despise King for conning boxers out of their millions, regardless of the fact he made big fights happen

don king also stopped alot of big fights from getting made as well,DIPSH**!

do you have any idea what he did to people over the years? i think you need to do a little research,because you sound like a fool.

go do some research on don king and then lets hear what your oppinion of him is.if it has not changed then you are as big a piece of sh** as he is.
