Surely this would mean heavyweight would be 175+ in the absence of a cruiserweight division.

cause it's the worst division in boxing. ffs, mormeck is half-retired and #3. this is according to fightnews which are usually pretty much on point. 3 of the top 8 were knocked out in their last fight. :yep

LH - you have Dawson, and a bunch of ancient guys with one fight left in them.

God , heavyweight wins hands down. In what other division could Shannon Briggs win a belt? All the unmotivated pudgy Russians, a bunch of old men, and a glass jawed champ. Not only the worst division today, but maybe of all time.

And Dawson isn't that much to brag about himself.

Top 15 according to who? :huh

Hide is not in Ring Magazine's top 10 or in Fightnews' top 10.

Boxrec rankings change every day and they are British so I wouldn't be surprised if they favoured Hide.

200 lbs is a strong, exciting division right now.

You have Hatton, Pauli, Witter, kotelnik, Holt, Kotelnik, Torres... Urango who can punch - Not great by any means - but I don't see the Cruisers, Bantams, LH, or Heavies as being amazingly better.

168 is weak, unless Pavlik lands there.

Cruiser and Heavy are easily worse off than 154 with forrest, and guys like Kirkland, Angulo, Hearns, Tsurkan, Julio, Latimore, Mora, Dzinziruk, Spinks, Phillips, Santos, Foreman, Karmazin, Ouma, Mayorga, Joe Greene, Powell, Martirosyan and Duddy going back 154 is stable not big time superstars but a lot of good match-ups

Calzaghe just vacated his belts, i think 168 is offically weak as ****.

At least until Pavlik decides to move there, possibly after his next fight.

actually this is Fightnews' rankings :yep

but tell me who is an elite fighter in the divsion? u can claim it's exciting cause people have different tastes but i wouldn't classify it as 'strong'. i don't see one top 20 or even 30 p4p guy in there. Adamek is the best imo and he moved up from lhw.

not trying to hate...just get sick of people hating on hws and ignoring facts

Cunningham is P4P top 25 according to ESB voters, and you mentioned Adamek. I'd rank Flores up there as a boxer-puncher.

Also, this Russian cat Alexeev is showing himself to be a huge P4P talent (and P4P puncher).

Other than that, there is a nice mix of former champs trying to come back (Mormeck, Braithwaite, Macca), and new contenders taking over (Adamek, Flores, Huck, Kraj, Banks, Godfrey, Alexeev).

Cruisers (including David Haye) have given us a boatload of exciting fights over the last 5 years, people need to recognize. :good
