Floyd Mayweather has fought in the division within the past Decade and could certainly be considerered on a head 2 head basis one of the best the division has ever seen. Right now at this very point in time it is weak, but all divisions go through a rebuilding stage. You have some great talent on the way up in Amir Khan and Manny Pac if he decides to move up in weight. I have no doubt it will not take long for some great new talent to re-emerge.
give katsidis a few more years and he may be the nexty great bllod and guts warrior to come out of that division.

Please do not get me wrong. I did say that the 135 division at this time is among the weakest ever...I did not say that it was the weakest one. PBF is the one that saves this decade, other than that I don't see great boxers performing in this division from here til 2009, perhaps after that we will see great boxers. Pac is fighting at 130 and nobody can say for sure that he is going to have success at 135. Everything is just speculation. Bottom line is.... what boxers who have fought at this weigh during this decade could make the difference so we can say that this decade it is not the weakest one or it is not among the weakest ones?
Roberto Duran was the greatest lightweight of all time and would clean out the division today without any problem at all.
yeah the lightweight division is crap, i respect Juan Diaz but lets face it would anyone pick him against his predesessors when they were the champion of this division, Chico,JLC,Mosely and so on?

Guys, seriously I need your help. I made a bet with a friend of mine. I am collecting some info regarding this, but your help is appreciated. I know that many of you have lots of knowledge about boxing and particularly about this division. My friend (I think) is going to look at the p4p lists, which I don't follow too much, and from that point he is going to tell me all the boxers at 135 that have (are) been in the p4p list during this decade and other decades. I believe there was no such list in the past, but I don't care. I am going to take the HOF list and ATG list to prove my point. I am looking also to H2H dream matches. I believe many of the champions from the past coud be (coud have been) champions now (in this decade) and not the other way around. Hope you can help me, even if you disagree with me. Please make your comments. Thanks in advance for your help.
what are you guys talking about, 135 is going to be one of the most intriguing in all of boxing this year Casa - the old vet, what does he have left? Juan Diaz - the new lion of the division. and then up n comers ready to break through like: Peterson Nate Campbell Khan Katsidis and with pac possibly moving up. 135 is a great dvision to watch this year.
This decade is going to be over at the end of 2009. My point is that this decade has not produced the calibre of boxers that other decades had. It my be "intriguing", but that doesn't mean better. I see Juan Diaz as a good young champion, but the rest are not up at the level of other champions/contenders from other decades. For example, none of the guys you mentioned coud have defeated Shane Moslely or DLH. Basically we are talking about quality, greatness etc etc. In other words, how many of the boxers at 135 (from 2000 to 2009) you think are (going to be great) great. How many HOFers or potential HOFers you see during this decade.
Thanks for your imput. :good This is exactly what I am trying to get at. I have to make a list of the ten best boxers for each decade. The decades are going to be like this: example, the 50s, from 1950 to 1959, the 60s from 1960 to 1969 and so on. If a boxer fought during two decades at 135, then I can include him in both decades. This why I am asking for some help. I don't know too many boxers from the old decades. I know that Ike Williams, Barney Ross are up there, but I need to complete the list. I know one thing though, from 2000 to this date there are not many great boxers at 135. PBF is one of them, Castillo, Juan Diaz but I don't see many HOFers, however at the end we might have a competitive list of 10 boxers for this decade who could be better than other 10s from other decade. If at the end the list of ten from this decade is the weakest or the second weakest, then I win, but I have to wait til the end of 2009.
