Imo he clearly beat chavez , but lost to oscar. He was past prime when he fought oscar, pernell from chavez fight would have won a wide UD over delahoya .

 

Let's not forget that Whitaker was also a great inside-fighter (who managed to out-muscle Chavez on the inside at times) and also a great body puncher. I honestly think that Whitaker's power get overlooked as well. He wasn't a devastating puncher by any means but he still punched hard enough that it stung opponents. I always like to compare Whitaker's power to a wasp.
