after dislocatin me knee 4 times on the run and leaving it 1 year 8 month to build strenghth back in my knee, i decided not 2 box competitively anymore but to go into coaching, and my license needed to be renewed anyway so i just left it. it was then when i was doing the corner for a friend whom i spar with , who had an ebf unlicensed title fight that i thought i fancy some of this. and a friend of mine was promoting a show and i was matched up 2 fight but the show fell through so now im waiting to get a couple this year. as im not sure whether i can have both a amateur coaching license and a amatuer boxing license i decided just not to get medicaled again and just fight unlicensed

Different things motivate me whether it's being good person in life or do my best in boxing. It might be a good book, some songs, life stories (Bernard Hopkins).

I was the same way. I couldn't get up to box for the life of me. I'd train, sweat, spar, hit, get hit, fight, all that ****, but I was just going through the motions.

Then I moved back out east, and had it taken away from me. Since I've been back, I haven't been able to box. And that brought it back. I realized how big a part of my life it had become, and how I need it now - at least at this point in my life. It's why I'm moving back to Nevada.

Have it taken away, and see if your motivation is still gone. I was taking it for granted. Never again.

well, i started Boxing when i was 18 my trainer said i was too old and i wasn't going to go anywhere even though i had a knack for the sport. i decided to go to mma instead, these last few weeks and eight years later i realized that something was missing in my life, the only time i was truly happy with training is when i put on my boxing gloves. so i said to hell with mma because i never was a mixed martial artist i am a Boxer that's what i am that's something nobody can ever take away from me. i never had any big pipe dreams of money and fame. The competition, blood, sweat, and tears is all i need. so to answer your question, what drives me is some baldheaded irishman saying i was not going to amount to anything in Boxing. what pisses me off even more is that i believed it, so if i win anything even remotely special in this sport i am going to find the guy, show it to him, and tell him to stick what he thought about me up his ass. makes training real easy.

I hate that guy. When you find him, tell him I said so.

"For every one hundred men you send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine of them are real fighters;we are lucky to have them, they the battle make. Ah, but the one. One of them is a warrior. And he will bring the others back." -- Heraclitus

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. -- Frederick Douglas

"To every man, there comes in his lifetime, that special moment when he is figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered a chance to do a very special thing, unique to him and fitted to his talents; What a tragedy if that moment should find him unprepared or unqualified for the work which would be his finest hour." -- Sir Winston Churchill

“Most people have the will to win, few have the will to prepare to win.” -- Bobby Knight

"Superiority lies with he who is reared in the severest school."-Thucydides

If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.
    -Marcus Aurelius

"If you fall apart in crisis, then there wasn't much to you to start with."
    -Proverbs 24:10

Somewhere, someone is training. And when you meet him on the field, face to face, one on one, he'll beat you unless that someone who's training is you. So work the left, run the stairs, crank the corners. Give it everything you've got, every day. And when you get tired and feel like quitting, ask yourself, is the other guy tired? Is he quitting?
