    Masamichi Yabuki vs Kenshiro Teraji

    WBC Light Flyweight Title

    Yabuki : Teraji

    1: 10 - 9
    2: 10 - 9
    3: 10 - 10
    4: 10 - 9
    5: 10 - 9
    6: 10 - 9

    60 - 55

    7: 10 - 9
    8: 10 - 9 Exciting round.
    9: 9 - 10 Absolutely brutal round.
10: TKO - on the verge of being stopped himself, Yabuki turns it around with a brutal body shot followed by a violent barrage.

    Notes:
    • Yabuki and his team seemed to notice that every time Kenshiro did a double or triple jab, he widened his right elbow. Cue the inside slip and brutal body shots which were so effective.
    • Open scoring after 4 rounds. Interesting.
    • I'm surprised at how ineffective Kenshiro was for most of the fight. He turned it up in the last two rounds, but took massive damage in the process and ultimately got stopped. Yabuki was too tough, heavy handed and surprisingly very crafty at neutralising the boxer. It just goes to show that being a 'boxer' doesn't make you a multi-dimensional fighter.
    • This Yabuki is really one to watch. Heavy handed, wild and a good counter puncher. I recommend this one just for rounds 9 and 10 alone.

    Iran Barkley vs James Kinchen

    1 Barkley
    2 Kinchen
    3 Barkley
    4 Kinchen
    5 Barkley
    6 Kinchen
    7 Kinchen
    8 Kinchen
    9 Barkley knockdown 10-8
    10 Barkley

    95-94 Barkley

Is Barkley ever in a dull fight ? i thought this was a very entertaining close fight.

Funnily enough i thought Iran Barkley did better when he boxed behind his jab, which Barkley isn't known for. When Barkley fought on the inside. James Kinchen's shorter punches and higher workrate, allowed him to win a majority of the rounds when they fought at close quarters.

I thought Barkley was behind going into the last 2 rounds, but he pulled out with a knockdown, and a fairly strong last round to earn a razor thing decision.

    Iran Barkley vs Robbie Sims

    1 Sims
    2 Barkley
    3 Barkley
    4 Barkley
    5 Barkley
    6 Knockout Sims winner

    49-46 Barkley

Incredible fight how can you not be a fan of Iran Barkley ?

I thought Iran Barkley was winning the fight 4-1 up until the stoppage, now even though i had it 4-1 to Barkley. There was atleast 2 rounds which you could easily argue, i just preferred Barkley's harder punchers rather than Sims flurries.

The standout round was def the 5th round which easily could of been round of the year, and this is a round which you could of scored to Sims aswell. But like i said i thought Barkley was doing more damage with his punches, and was physically rocking Sims so thats why i thought Barkley was edging the rounds.

But overall amazing fight the 80's Middleweight era had so many amazing fights.

    Iran Barkley vs Wilford Scypion

    1 Barkley
    2 Barkley
    3 Barkley
    4 Barkley
    5 Barkley
    6 Barkley
    7 Scypion
    8 Barkley winner by KO

    69-64 Barkley

Yes another Iran Barkley fight, sorry if it seems like i'm spamming this thread. But i been really enjoying Iran Barkley fights today.

Anyway this was an interesting fight, Iran Barkley fighting on the backfoot behind the jab showing some nice skills. Not his normal style of going toe to toe in a blood and guts war.

I thought Iran Barkley controlled this fight behind his jab with occasional combinations and right hand, Scypion was always the aggressor but could never really sustain an attack.

The 7th round is when things started to slightly turn around, with Barkley looking up at the clock looking tired. That was the 1st round i gave to Scypion, then the 8th round Scypion upped his workrate. And it was looking a little bit worrisome for Barkley, but then out of nowhere boom picture perfect right hand from Iran Barkley and he wins by KO.

Overall decent fight with Iran Barkley showing his underrated skills, and a pretty nice KO aswell.

One of my favourite middleweight fights and one of the best from that era.

Also, if you haven’t seen it, worth checking out Don Lee-Tony Sibson from the same year.

Artur Beterbiev 12-0 12 KOs vs Callum Johnson 17-0 12 KOs

    Round 1
Both guys get real close for the feeling out process. Johnson unloads a flurry first and Beterbiev responds with his own which backs up Johnson. Artur still measuring Callum. Callum having some success when he throws straight rights catching Beterbiev. Johnson sticks his head out of the ring and as soon as he brings it back in with 30 sec left and down goes Johnson to a Beterbiev hook. He’s up and the rounds over. Announce crew ponder if what Artur did was illegal, it definitely wasn’t. First time Johnson had been down in his career

    10-8 Beterbiev

    Round 2

Johnson still clearing the cobwebs and Beterbiev is throwing a nice hard jab through his high guard mixing it in with some over the top rights and shots to the body. Callum beginning to open up a little lands a straight right, but this round so far is all Beterbiev. With 90 seconds left Johnson lands a right and a hook to drop Artur! Beterbiev is hurt but up. Beterbiev immediately takes back over control with his 1-2s, Johnson with a golden opportunity does nothing with it and has no follow up, I mean he throws 1 punch to close out the round

    10-8 Johnson

    18-18

    Round 3
Johnson tries to jump on Beterbiev to start the round, sorry Callum the moment has passed. Beterbiev back to throwing thudding jabs mixed in with hard combos. Johnson when he does engage is being outgunned here, though he does land a few nice right hands here and there. Other than that all Artur

    10-9 Beterbiev
    28-27 Beterbiev

    Round 4
Johnson trying to be the aggressor and pin Beterbiev to the ropes but Arthur’s compact economical punches are wearing him down. Callum still landing some nice right hands here and there but he’s wilting away. Combo off the ropes by Beterbiev punctuated with a right hand hand ends Johnson. He can’t beat the 10 count

    Artur Beterbiev KO4 Callum Johnson

Fun fight as I am going through Beterbievs ledger. I'm still not convinced like others that he smashes a bunch of all time greats, but he is strong and a legit threat.

Roman Gonzalez vs Juan Francisco Estrada 2

    1 Estrada
    2 Gonzalez
    3 Estrada
    4 Gonzalez
    5 Gonzalez
    6 Estrada
    7 Estrada
    8 Estrada
    9 Gonzalez
    10 Gonzalez
    11 Estrada
    12 Gonzalez

    114-114 Draw

So i didn't get to watch alot of boxing in 2021 so i'm only just starting to catch up now, on some of the more recent fights.

I thought this was an amazing fight and i enjoyed it more than Fury/Wilder 3. I loved the skill combined with the toe to toe slugging, and it had a great contrast of styles. Estrada the boxer with the beautiful combinations, and Gonzalez with such a great aggressive skillful style with a lovely right hand.

Anyway as for the fight i liked Gonzalez slightly better in the early rounds, i liked his effective aggression and right hand. I thought his right hand was the more telling blow, although the amazing 4th round was a very close round which could of gone either way.

The middle rounds i thought belonged to Estrada he boxed really nicely, getting off his combinations. With some lovely body work, and Gonzalez wasn't throwing as much as earlier, nor was he able to get his right hand working. So i thought for certain Estrada controlled the middle portion of the fight.

But the later rounds i thought Gonzalez once again, was able to get his right hand working. Along with his effective aggression, and i feel he definitely had the better of the later rounds.

The 11th round was close and i could see an argument being made that Gonzalez won it, but i thought Estrada out punched Gonzalez and i liked his combinations in that round.

The 12th round was also close but with a minute to go, Gonzalez landed 5 solid right hands in a row. Then i feel he controlled the round from then on to win that round and to earn a draw on my scorecard.

Amazing fight overall can't wait for the 3rd fight, i'm just wondering if there 2nd fight will be the best in trilogy ? which would not be the norm, considering the 2nd fight i've always found in a trilogy is always the weakest. Gatti vs Ward 2, Holyfield vs Bowe 2, Ali vs Frazier 2, Harding vs Andries 2, Barrera vs Morales 2, and so on.

Juan Francisco Estrada vs Carlos Cuadras 2

    1 Cuadras
    2 Estrada
    3 Cuadras 10-8 knockdown
    4 Estrada
    5 Estrada
    6 Estrada
    7 Cuadras
    8 Estrada
    9 Estrada
    10 Cuadras
    11 Estrada winner by TKO

    95-94 Estrada

Wow i've been treated to some great fights today from the past and present, really enjoyed this fight. Just like Estrada vs Gonzalez alot of skill on display combined with brutality.

I thought Cuadras did well early on like he did in there 1st encounter, good combinations good movement a few unorthodox uppercuts. And the knockdown was a peach aswell with the left hook and uppercut.

But in a way as silly as it sounds, maybe the worst thing Cuadras could of done was knockdown Estrada. As that seemed to awaken the beast in Estrada, and instead of his normal counter punching style. He really took it Cuadras with effective aggression after the 4th knockdown. And i felt Estrada had the momentum from there on.

The 8th round Estrada hurt Cuadras with a left hook to the body, and i honestly don't think Cuadras recovered from that. And it was noticeable Cuadras was trying to protect the right side of his body for the rest of the fight.

Cuadras did show alot of bravery and he did win 2 rounds after the 4th round IMO, by outhustling Estrada and throwing some nice combinations. Despite Estrada seeming to have the momentum from the 4th round on.

But despite the bravery it did seem like it was a matter of time, until Estrada finally got to Cuadras. And he finally did in the 11th round.

But overall amazing fight and i finally caught up on Estrada's fights, and after seeing these two fights today. It's made me so excited to see Cuadras vs Wangek 2, Gonzalez vs Estrada 3.

What a treat though us boxing fans have to have these 4 great fighters all fighting eachother Wangek, Gonzalez, Estrada, Cuadras. In years to come this era of Flyweight/Super Flyweights will go down in history as great era in boxing.

It's funny looking back, when I would buy all the monthly boxing magazines in the 80's, how the writers would just trash the middleweight division as a hopeless wasteland. They loved Marvin of course but the likes of Scypion. Sibson, Davidson, Shuler, Kinchen etc. was deemed to be lacking at best.

Looking back now it doesn't seem bad at all but it was considered garbage at the time.

I wasn't born in that era, but that does seem amazing to me. Just goes to show people don't realize how good something it is until it's gone.

I just had a quick glance at the top 10 ranked Middleweights now, and i know what era of Middleweights i'd prefer to watch.
