Michael Gomez vs Laszlo Bognar II. I remember looking through Gomez's Boxrec record and seeing this description of the fight: "Gomez down in rounds one and two, Bognár down at the bell of the second round and for the final knockdown in the third round." I'm thinking 'this fight must be a war!', although it didn't turn out that way. Both knockdowns of Gomez were Bognar catching him square on. Gomez was more embarrassed than anything. He finally caught up to Bognar with some signature body punching in the 2nd and finished him off in the 3rd. Not a bad fight, but not the war I was anticipating :yep
Never rely on reports Kos. I still ain't seen the Maidana/Cayo fight, reports say Marcos looked like a monster. (shoot me a link if you can) Disgracefully someone in our ESB Brit forum family was hyping up young Cayo at the beginning of last month. I have no idea who this may have been, but like OJ Simpson I will be on a manhunt to find the real perpetrator. And just like OJ, even if I have to go to a golf course to seek out the person who committed this heinous crime of over hyping a ham n eggs fighter, then so be it. Don't worry family, I'm on the investigation trail to weed out whoever this individual was...lol...i'm retiring from the prediction business! LOL.
Cayo didn't do bad in the fight. Me and LHL had him leading on points even with the knockdown, although it did seem inevitable that Maidana would eventually catch up to him. Will look for a link for you :good
S&L: Cayo was rightly 'hyped' IMO, not a bad fighter by any means although based on his win over Diaz I wasn't sold on his power. A loss means little. He'll prove his worth in the way he rebounds.
Yeah i had him up in the fight, Maidana fought in spots and was landing solid shots when he did let his hands go but he was far too inactive early in the fight for me, not that the result was in doubt as you say. Sometimes when you watch a guy fight you can see his fighting on nervous energy and that, that nervous energy is eventually going to lead to him leaving himself more open, i felt this watching Cayo.
lionel rose vs alan rudkin i scored this a draw using the 10 point must system and in rounds i had 7 each and 1 even. rose for me went into a lead winningthe first 5 rounds then rudkin the next five it the next few rounds were shared with the 14th being even for me with rudkin ptaking the last to get the draw on my card although rose got the official decision a split decision i think i feel my card is a pretty good shout certainly compared to one of the judges who scored it to rose by quite some way 75-60 i think
Holmes v. Spinks 1. This wasn't the worse robbery of all time, but it was one of the worse based on the fact that every judge was paid off to secure Rocco's 49 and 0 from being matched. Holmes controlled this fight with the jab all night and Spinks flurried for maybe 20 seconds a round. Pretty bad decision based on the US politics of it all.

Ray Leonard when he fought Lolande for two divisional titles, got me thinking why isn't this done in todays rush for publicity? would be a great marketing ploy...no? For example making weight at 168 but fighting for both SMW and LHW titles at the same time...can something like that even be sanctioned in today's game though? Leonard fought Lolande in this same type of setting. Actually if remember correctly Roy proposed it to Calzaghe but Calzaghe couldn't dehydrate that fast for a Sept bout, don't know what happened when it was moved to November. Maybe the WB(s) didn't sanction it, but precedent was already set with Sugar Ray so shouldn't be that hard to get it done.
Watched a few Chad fights when Mayweather snr trained him and i've come to the conclusion that Floyd snr is one of the worst trainers in the game, allota smoke and mirrors with this guy. Dou you guys recall the very first fight that May Sr worked as DLH's second? DLH tried his best to do the shoulder roll with that Detroit uppercut from the pocket but he looked like an uncomfortable robot. This guy trains everybody the same exact way, He'll make sluggers try and fight like slicksters etc. Even if they don't have the arm length or variety to try and out cute. It was Roger who molded lil Floyd anyway.
