benitez vs cervantes , i scored this 8-4 with three even to benitez ,three even rounds were 6,9,11 the reason being they were not on the telecast that was recorded
Richard Williams vs Shannan Taylor Taylor started off well, pretty much outboxing Williams for the first 3 rounds without doing anything effective. Williams always looked comfortable though that his power was going to come through and it certainly did in the 4th as he caught Shannan with a great punch early in the round and continued to up the pressure until the referee jumped in. Bobby Vanzie vs Steve Murray Bobby looked as if he was out of it when Steve caught him with a peach of a punch in the 1st round, but he somehow got up and even though he got floored again (after the 2nd knockdown he was staring out into the crowd and looked like he didn't know what was going on) survived the round. After this, he began to outbox Steve for the rest of the fight, throwing fast combinations that bloodied his opponents face and spoiling up close to avoid getting caught again by his hard hitting opponent. In the 7th Steve looked very fatigued and Bobby caught him with some great shots to floor him. He got up, but another flurry from Bobby caused the ref to jump in and stop the fight. Also watched Laing vs Lueshing the other day (Gaz I'm still going to do that report for the Welter thread!).
vanzie was gazing into the crowd because his brother got punched a few times by harlow hooligans and bobby was more worried about his brother than murray, small hall classic i watched guzman funeka 2, guzman makes me sick, he knew the only way he could beat funeka was if he weighed in as a welter and still it was close ish, cant wait to see guzman fight someone in his own weight class

yeah i remember this but in the next weeks edition of boxing news i read his brother was attacked and hit a few times during the first round, did you see when vanzie celebrated after stopping murray about 30 fans were about to storm the ring, it really did nearly kick off that night, harlow has a tough rep

Your card is more or less the same as the British newspapers who had it a draw or one point either way. The commentary team were in accordance as well with Rocky Gattallari and Peter Wilson at ringside having it even after 14. My dad thought he'd done enough to get it but is not bitter. He is bitter about Ray Mitchell's card though which was a disgrace. Peter Wilson of the Daily Mirror called it one of the worst judgements since the days of Bloody Judge Jeffries. I would love to have seen a breakdown of referee Vic Patrick 70-63, doesn't seem to make sense to me and I've even wondered if it should of been 70-68. Fighting an Australian national hero in Australia with 3 Australian judges, bizarre. The odds were stacked against my dad from the start. Someone should have been looking out for dad and I blame the British Board of control as well who should of insisted on at least one British judge. Peter Wilson was talked about as a judge and was qualified to do the job. He'd judged at the Jofre-Caldwell fight in Brazil. If he'd got the nod instead of Mitchell history would of been rewritten. Sorry about the rant but it something close to my heart.
