Holmes v. Spinks 1. Holmes controlled this fight with the jab all night and Spinks flurried for maybe 20 seconds a round. Pretty bad decision based on the US politics of it all.

Btw No one in the history of the HW division used the jab with 5 different gears like Holmes did. Holmes actually won 15 round UD's on throwing nothing but a jab and used his power hand just as a change of pace to go right back to the jab. Yeah, Clay/Ali had a great jab but he used it more as a way to set up those lead rights and butterfly floating the crap out of his opponents. My pops would be happy to see anybody give Holmes his props as Larry was his favourite!

What has my affection for Spinks got to do with you or the topic at hand? He's the first person I've ever come across that scored the first fight for Holmes. He was outworked, out-hussled, and just beaten close but clear.

Watched RJJ v Vinny Paz. Pretty outrageously frantic fight that was.
Also watched RJJ against Thomas Tate, which I think was also at 168. Roy's best weight, I wonder.

    Anselmo Moreno v Nehomar Cermeno

An absolute **** of a fight to score! I had it 115-114 Moreno, 5-5-2 in rounds but Cermeno (rightfully) had a point token off for low blows. He caught Moreno square on the balls twice :)scaredas:) and there were one or two more than strayed below the belt.

Both guys are very good boxers. Cermeno is a nightmare to box, he's not a master-boxer but he throws every punch well and just imposes his style on you. 1st part of the fight he was fighting off the backfoot but it just wasn't working, one he started going forward he did much better. Stunned Moreno about 3 times with right hands/left hooks.

Moreno could be quality but sometimes he just doesn't do enough. He jabs like Hasegawa where he paws a bit and then shoots a solid jab. His straight left ain't too sloppy either.

Don King was at ringside, don't know why as he doesn't promote either fighter as far as I'm aware but he was there.

Moreno-Cermeno II is in August. This time it's in Moreno's homeland of Panama (Cermeno had home advantage for this fight, in Venezuela).
