Yeah someone mentioned the other day how criminal it is that Arum hasn't used him on Pac's undercards, he should be in a position now as the natural successor to Pac as the Philippines number 1 fighter. Donaire-Montiel will be ****ing huge, as would a number of those fights at Bantam. Could be a historic next couple of years with a bit of luck
I'm expecting big things from him in the next couple of years. It's just up to Arum to pull his finger out. Montiel-Donaire would be huge as you say. I would have personally thrown them both into that bantamweight Super 6 Showtime tried to setup. That would been massive with those two involved, not just in terms of fights and excitement, but in exposure for the little guys as well.
It's not a Super 6 anymore because Showtime couldn't get enough fighters to participate. Arum refused to let Montiel and Donaire enter. Hasegawa refused as he's chasing a Montiel rematch. So now it's just a 4 man elimination tourny between Vic Darchinyan, Joseph Agbeko, Yonnhy Perez and Abner Mares. First fights happen on the same card end of this year. Final next year.
Casamayor v. Katsidis Better performance from Katsidis then i thought at the time, he really could've had Casamayor out of there, but Casa just proved to be too cute and saw him coming once he was able to time him and get into his rhythem. Seeing Katsidis against this counter punching style makes me think he'll be in for a hard night against Marquez (a more polished Casamayor) depending on how much Juan Manual has left. After that incident of Casamayor getting knocked out of the ring though. I went into my memory bank and immediately thought of Benn/McCellen. The only slight variation to Casa was that Casa may have had 1 foot on the canvas and the momentum carried him to the outside apron, which should have been an uninterrupted 10 count. In Nigel's case, he got knocked violently almost into the crowd, thus a few more second's pause.

I have seen his fight vs kalumbauy too. I am shocked that he is not mentioned more nowadays, from what i have seen he is very impressive. ATM i am watching hearns v barkley 1.
Just watched Johnny Owen-Lupe Pintor for the first time, very sad I was tempted to turn it off just before the end but saw it through. I'd read that Johnny had put up a good fight but didn't realise how tough a night he gave Pintor. Strangely enough for all the talk about John looking frail it was his strength and aggression that was giving Pintor all the problems for the first 8 rounds. After the first knockdown which he did well to get up from it all went downhill. Should his corner of pulled him out? Who can say, it's easy to blame in hindsight. I'm sure that corner thought the world of Johnny and never imagined what might happen. In the words of Hugh Mcllvanney:- "..boxing gave Johnny Owen his one positive means of self expression. Outside the ring he was an inaudible and almost invisible personality. Inside, he became astonishingly positive and self assured. he seemed to me to be more at home there than anywhere else.
