Morales vs Limond - Good start from Limond. Caused a lot of trouble for Erik, but ultimately the quality shots came from Morales. Whitaker vs Rivera 1 - Very close fight. Every round was close. I had Whitaker winning 116-114 but I wouldn't argue with anyone having Rivera winning by a couple of points. Pea managed to pick up the majority of the first 6 rounds which ended up being crucial.

Felix Trinidad Vs David Reid Never seen Reid before but how come is eye is like that? Some nice body from work early on. Tito takes some big shots in the 3rd and taste's canvas, and was warned for a third low blow. gets a point deducted right at end of round 6. ruthless left hook from tito sends Reid all over the ring and finally slumps to the floor, he's lucky there was only a few seconds left of the round. Reid gets a point off for low blows in the 9th which is a massive round for Tito. Lands some big shot and has Reid really backing off. Tito lands big uppercut in the 11th and reid goes down again. still hurt when tito unloads, not landing much but Reid goes down, only for Tito to get yet another point taken for off for a low blow. At the end of the round tito lands a straight right, although with not alot on it, drops Reid for the 3rd time in the round. Ref should be stopping the fight here. Reid has no legs coming into the 12th but manages to hang. i think only Reids 14th fight, and imo gave a good effort considering Felix Trinidad Vs Mamadou Thaim Tito puts him down early in the first, this is where i like Tito, he dosent rush his man throwing loads N loads of shots, he takes a step back, sums his man up and try's to pick his shots. Great second round as Thaim starts to fire back a lil bit, taking punishment in the time being and quits in the next round
Felix Trinidad Vs Fernando Vargas LOL at Vargas entrance, knocking down that brick wall. First left hook thrown and vargas down and hurt. goes down once more in the minute of the fight. Tito has him hurt a few times in the second but Vargas fires in a nice left hook to put Tito on his arse and as Vargas starts to put it on him Tito gets a point taken off for another low blow. He get another taken off in the 7th just as he starts to build momentum. Vargas deducted a point in round 10, which seems fairly harsh imo. Trinidad landing more as the fight wears on. Good exchange's in the 11th. Trinidad sets up the finish with tredemark lefts hooks flooring Vargas twice, where the ref should of waved it off. Vargas is out on his feet and a right hand close's the Show What do you think of Don King talking to the commissioner during the fight Felix Trinidad Vs William Joppy Joppy down in the first and Tito nearly finished it. Joppy was winning the round until the knockdown imo. Busy 3rd round for joppy before suffering a heavy knockdown in the 4th and does well to survive, given that, as a good a finisher Tito is, theres nearly two minutes left in the round. Tito lands more heavy blows and ends it with a peach of a right hand
James Toney vs. Tim Littles. A masterpiece from James on how to walk and stalk, counter punch and stay cool when you see blood. Littles was somewhat of an underrated guy, but this was vintage Lights out. Btw you all notice i stopped myself from mentioning "Second to Nunn" when talking about vintage Toney, LOL! That's because i promised no more Michael Nunn references when dissecting Toney's ability to stay in the pocket and shoulder roll till the Championship rounds, lol. Man I just bummed myself out...Nunn could've been in the modern day 4 Horsemen; damn!
David Diaz vs Erik Morales - 113-117 I thought Morales picked up the first 6 rounds. Diaz was walking into straight, hard shots and landing sporadically himself. The second half of the fight was only close due to Morales tiring and Diaz becoming slightly more active. At least 3/4 of the quality punches in this fight were landed by Morales and he boxed very well at times considering how tired he was.
I feel so uncomfortable watching a post Pacquiao 1 Morales. It doesn't feel right. That first Pacquiao fight was the last great performance he had and he was basically done, after giving a boxing 101 lesson on how to take away the left down the pipe and counter the jab of a southpaw. Those two Pacquiao rematches were facades and don't count IMO. Don't forget a disinterested Erik was outboxed by Zahir eefing Raheem before that.
Just been working my way through some of the fights on the Latin Pride collection upped on TC. Tremendous stuff, I love the Internet. Carlos Zarate v Danilo Batista - Good fight. Batista was an unheralded unbeaten Brazilian who gave Zarate all he could handle, he had the speed advantage and was not afraid to trade with Zarate, being the aggressor for large portions for the fight. Unfortunately he was lacking the power to deter Zarate and the inevitable happened, with Zarate landing a nice left hook to stun Batista before dropping him with the right in the 6th. Batista got up but was rightfully stopped by the ref. Lupe Pintor v Tony Rocha - A young Pintor completely takes apart an experienced but overmatched opponent. Interesting in how a young prospect does everything with such calmness and composure. He knew he was the better man but he didn't rush anything, just stalked his opponent waiting for the right shots. He downed him in the 3rd with a textbook straight right before leaving Rocha rolling around on the floor in agony with a spinning left to the body. Pipino Cuevas v Scott Clark - Cuevas in the midst of his reign of terror puts an absolute beating on an outclassed American. Clear from the offset Clark had no chance with Pintors massive left hooks and uppercuts doing the trick to stop Clark in the 2nd.
Froch vs Kessler - 117-114 Watson vs Eubank 2 - Great fight. Round 11 is arguably the most exciting round I have ever seen
You're getting through a lot of Sweet Pea action...:good Whitaker seemed uninspired in that fight and just went through the motions. He would have moments like that in his career where he would perform according to the circumstances. He hated being termed "boring" aswell and would get reckless to try and please the fans like in the Paez fight. Although even a reckless Sweet Pea was more scientific then most fighters.
Damn right I am :yep Bloody loving it as well. I've always know he was quality but I've only just started appreciating how good he was. The second Ramirez fight is possibly my favourite one sided fights of all time. And he's crept into my top 10 favourite fighters as well. The commentators mentioned that he had flu before the first Rivera fight which could have played into his fading later in the fight. But it was a poor performance by his standards.
Duran vs Marcel Duran vs Huertas Duran vs Kobayashi Duran vs Buchanan Just received the Duran career set and have finished watching the first disc. Absolutely classic stuff. Its hard to imagine a better fighter at this relatively early stage in a career.
