Morales vs Pacquaio I Great watching Morales getting tagged then throwing his own attack and backing Pacquaio up. Just doesn't happen anymore, maybe he's just got that good. Or maybe he just hasn't fought anyone of Morales's class since.
Abner Mares vs Yohnny Perez. Cracking fight, a real gem, one of the most underrated of the year IMO. Lots of clean, sharp combinations landed by each fighter throughout the whole fight, lots of back and forth action aswell. It was like a more skilled, less sloppy version of Kessler - Froch, but with more action aswell. I scored it 116-114 in favour of Mares. It was a very close fight however, and I find a draw to be a very reasonable decision, as there were plenty of rounds which could easily have gone either way. Mares faded to some degree in the mid rounds, but came on strong from rounds 7-10, which just about nicked the fight for him. Perez had some good rounds, and landed a lot of solid shots, but it just seemed as though for every good couple of shots he put together, Mares would come back with a combination of his own. This made it a horrible fight to score. What was odd to me, is Mares's style more than anything. His stance and footwork is very similar to that of Juan Manuel Marquez, he even incorporates a similar shuffle of the feet on the spot thing that Marquez does when moving away from an opponent. However, whereas Marquez fights out of this stance with his counter-punching style, Mares fights in a completely different nature. His style is not about timing or accuracy like Marquez, it's more about moving on the outside to get out of range, then moving in for long spells of combinations, which feature a lot of wild shots thrown by Abner. This fighting style does not really match, nor compliment the stance or technique that Mares uses. I think he would benefit from a different stance altogether, one that is more beneficiary to his style. I believe that this may cost him in future fights. Tomorrow, I am going to watch Mares - Darchinyan. I am doing this to get a measure of Mares as a fighter. To be honest, based on his performance against Perez, I cannot see him beating Joseph Agbeko later this year. That fight would be far out of his grasp IMO. If Agbeko fights the right fight, he will bear Mares handily IMO.
Hector Camacho vs. Jose Ramirez. Mahn, Hector Camacho Sr. was something else at times especially at 130lbs, what a fighter he was at his best. I've never seen someone so talented throw away a Hall of Fame career so easily. It's interesting because Rosario seemed to ruin his confidence kind of like the way Barrera did Hamed, although Naz was further along in his career and probabily reached his level. Camacho fought on and became a freak show. This may sound crazy but Camacho is on almost even terms with anybody at 130lbs IMO. His feet and hands were as fast as Pacquiao’s...i guess you just can't buy discipline.
Salvador Sanchez Vs Jose Chavez Salvador Sanchez Vs Antonio Leon Salvador Sanchez Vs Rosalio Badillo Kind of reminded me of Groves Anderson this fight, Sanchez was hurt badly in the 2nd but instead of holding heslipped a few shots on the ropes and fired back, great stuff. Mares has had about three different trainers - would explain the 'clashes' in his style. He was with Nacho and then left for some reason.

Aye, think that's what it was. Mares signed with Espinoza and with the Izzy-Rafa rivalry Nacho wasn't happy :huh Don't get that cos Izzy and Rafa aren't like Barrera and Morales who genuinely despised each other.
