The worst beating has two distinct elements:

A slow sustained demoralising beating and severe injuries, brusing, cuts, that results in the taking of a mans fighting soul, physical capabilities and skills......so he is never the same again......

    Lloyd honeyghan v starling

    Davey moore v duran

    Jeff lacey v calzaghe

I think those 3 illustrate my point

The ali -holmes beating was very bad too

    Biggs v tyson

    For lacerating a man

    hagler tore minter apart.

For a almost comical yet brutal physical spanking short and severe.

    Hearns v duran

In terms of blood and gore as well as an overall mugging body and head it is hard to top Dempseys destruction of Willard.

Dempsey/Willard and Ike Williams/Beau Jack always astounded me...sheer violence.

I always thought the beating mike McCallum put on Michael Watson was another lacey-calzaghe....some said the fight was fairly close but I saw it as a shutout as Watson fought v poorly by his standards.

Remarkably he only came back stronger in the Eubanks fights.Watson was young and fast improving. I have no doubt if the terrible accident in 1991 hadn't occured, Watson like Benn and Eubanks would have had a long title reign say a wba belt for five, six defences before a Benn rematch

Foreman vs Chuvalo (Frazier vs Chuvalo wasn't very pretty either.)
Dempsey vs Willard could discourage someone from being a boxing fan.
Duran vs Moore -A brutal beating and a biased, incompetent referree who let Duran use every dirty trick in the book, and cornermen who obviously didn't give a hoot for their overmatched fighter. Horrible.

Willard's injuries seem to have been quite exaggerated as time has gone by. He drove himself and his wife back to Kansas a couple days later. And he actually had some good wins later.

I would add Chavez-Taylor I to the list.
