I think that Cotto's team thought they could drop Margo, that's why Miguel insisted that much with the left clean hook to the head, on the replay's you could see Margo's ears flopping like cheap foam flipflops! I thought that with that punishment straight to the head it was a matter of time before Margo showed some wear down, but that didn't happen and they should've change the strategy from rd 6 on to work the body in order to slow down Margo.
a remacht figth will only ruin cotto as tough as the figth went he should return against an easy rival to test the waters he took a beating
If Cotto fights Margo again too soon it could potentially CRUSH his career. If he takes another beating he will be done. D. O. N. E.
I agree. If there is a rematch and frankly I wouldn't be suprised if Cotto wants nothing to do with Margarito moving forward, don't expect it to happen anytime soon. This wasn't a close fight that Margarito won by split decision this was a life changing beat down that Cotto just expirienced.
If the fight did as well as I think it did as far as PPV numbers, the rematch will happen regardless, its a business. Personally, I would love to see Cotto fight Margo again.
Yep another reason why I fell PBF would beat Margo is because he would do exactly what you just described, when he's not sticking and moving. "Beat Margo to the punch and tie up immediately", not pretty but effective.:yep
Cotto did not take Margarito lightly, he didn't underestimate him and if exhaustion is what brought Cotto down, Margarito contributed quite a bit to it. Let's face it, Margarito is tougher physically and mentally than he is unskilled. Though he was being outboxed in the early rounds, Margarito's constant pressure took its toll on Cotto. The early nose/mouth bleeds have also debilitated Cotto's breathing. Try to breath through clogs of blood forming in your nose and mouth, you'll be asphyxiated in no time, let alone if you are boxing at such a level of intensity. It's psychologically and physically draining to hit an opponent with your best punches and watch him comeback every time. That sums up what happened in this fight. Cotto's chances to win a rematch? Dunno but only pussies give up on their chances and Cotto ain't one. There were many positives for Cotto in this lost. I'm sure by now he and his trainers have assessed the situation and are now looking for solutions. Maybe a change of personnel is already in the works.
hahaha ok let me tell you one thing cotto could train all he wants he could train n e where but 1. he is never gona have the stamina that margarito has trust me i seen margarito train and that guy could fight 20 rounds toe 2 toe and still gona keep coming back..2. he has a an iron chin i know that its not imposible 2 ko him because hes been in count before but he was just a fifteen year old kid fighting men but cotto just dont have the power 2 do it 2 him and me and you know that cotto would and never is gona have the chin that margarito has so he could train all he wants but remember training dont make your chin stronger your born with it.. 3 hees power and you could think what you want but ask cotto if he dont have power lol please i seen alot of sparring sessions and everey body says the same its not the same been outside the ring and never heard of 1 that says he dont have power so sorry 2 dissapoint you budy but cotto dont want a rematch and if their is one he beter cover that chin with metal haha or hes gona get ko'd again..
Going into the fight I was conserned about, What if there was an emergency situation. How would the strained relationship between Cotto & his Uncle/Trainer get through it? Could that have been a factor if Cotto's uncle made adjustments & Cotto didn't carry out the order's because of personal reasons. Time will tell if there is anything to this scenario...
