I get what you are trying to say Addie, but fact is Barrera wasnt even close to being shot when Pacquiao destroyed him. He was pretty damn near prime actually.
Barrera is my fav fighter, and even i think he was pretty close to prime. Barrera never had a huge right being Left handed... Pac just had the style to beat him

Both are first ballot HOFers and Barrera did have Erik's number.I've been taken to task for saying Morales has earned the right to be careful who he fights nowadays and I'm loving the chance to see him again but at their best weights MAB arguably won all three.We should enjoy Erik being back but his last truly great performance was when he beat Pac.Even his best fights since have been a shadow of what he was.Barrera,Morales and Marquez have been a joy to behold and it won't be the same without them.Whatever happens JMM v Pac I think Morales-Marquez would be a great way for them to go out.Know I'll probably get slaughtered here but Barrera was an all time favourite of mine so here goes...
Yes, you probably are going to get slaughtered. The Morales dick sucking parade has gotten way out of control over the last few months. Apparently he's greater than Floyd Mayweather Jr and Bernard Hopkins according to a lot of our General Forum regulars. I think it's important to note that Barrera fans can talk both fighters up without disrespecting anyone. However, the same cannot be said for Morales fans. It's disappointing. They'll have us believe Barrera isn't on Morales' level, but the three fights they had certainly show different. That's all that really matters, ultimately. Congratulations on a fine, measured post. They've been few and far between on the General when discussing Morales and his career. Bravo.

Absolutely. I've been very respectful towards Morales and his career, but it's got to the point now where Barrera is being trashed and discredited at every turn. I half expect this because the newer fans are fickle and forget very quickly, but they don't seem to understand that by downgrading Barrera they are inadvertantly discrediting Morales. You'd think that these people would have great admiration for someone who defeated their hero on two seperate occasions, but apparently that's not how this works. Morales and Barrera were both wonderful fighters. You've already proven yourself to be more respectful and knowledgble than the majority of the General Forum.
The fights were so close. Everyone knows HBO gave the second fight to MAB. Morales was supernatural. MAB meh.
