You don't get the point of the thread do you? The point of this thread is since Marciano fanboys think a 5'10 180 pound Marciano could beat George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, Wlad and Vitali Klitschko, Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe ect. So if size doesn't matter because Marciano is apparently beyond logic. Do they same people think size don't matter when smaller guys are put against Marciano.

In reality size does matter. That is why there is a weight class. The funny thing is that we know for a fact that Rocky Marciano was knocked down and struggled against the natural 160-170 pound naturally Archie Moore. Moore was also past his prime. We know for a fact that Marciano was beaten from pillow to post by natural 170 pound Ted Lowry who wasn't that good of a fighter. So Roy Jones Jr would destroy Marciano. I could of also added guys like James Toney and he would destroy Marciano too.

Tommy Hearns would probably lose because of his poor chin. But Hearns did move up to 175 and higher and beat guys like Virgil Hill who was far more skilled than Marciano and Tommy Hearns even beat guys like Nate Miller a 6'2 190 pounder who was much more skilled and bigger than Marciano.

I can draw a conclusion on all five of the proposed outcomes in about five seconds

I just wanna say, Marciano was never beaten with a pillow. That’s just ridiculous.

This analogy also ignores the plateauing effect re both power and resistance with increased size and when approaching and exceeding the 200 lb or so threshold.

    Hi Buddy.
So my response would go something like this.
You premise is that smaller boxers have given Marciano trouble and are capable of beating him, the only small flaw in your case is both Lowry and Moore were not the " smaller " opponent when they fought Rocky !! both were taller, and Lowry's weight was 180, and Moore's was 188, and Marciano's weight was 185 or their about, so he wasn't given trouble by a middleweight ( Lowry ) or a 160 pounder ( Moore ) they were HW or HWs of that era, had either weighed 160/170 your point would stand, as it is, your point is diluted .
Just to add some context to the Lowry fight, Marciano was having his 21st fight ( and sort of still learning ) as opposed to Lowry who had around 120 fights by that time, also you say Hearns beat Miller who was " bigger and more skilled " than Marciano, I am sure Tommy could beat dozens of fighters with that criteria, but that doesn't presuppose he would have beaten Marciano.
By way of balance, I share your view that Rocky would have struggled with the truly big HWs that you named, and could have lost against all 6 , hope you take my reply in good humour, and its just my point of view, that's all. stay safe buddy.

Mike, all I can say is, you’re a better man than I Gunga Din.

I hope to achieve your level of class in the face of less than classy responses.

Somehow, I think the horse has bolted on that possibility for me. LOL.

We should all aspire to Mike Cannon’s Canon for which you should be Canonised.

We already have a self appointed Holy Man - @Saintpat - but he isn’t altogether that holy, more brimstone and fire actually (kidding, Mr Saint).

So, stay safe yourself buddy, always a pleasure to read.

So if Floyd Mayweather put on weight and came in at 230 pounds that means he was bigger than Mike Tyson now? Lol Lowry's natural weight was 160 pound. When he fought Marciano the first time he weighed 177. Marciano weighed as high as 190 or so pounds and typical fought at 188 so you are wrong. But it is okay all Marciano fans are clueless sad biased people.

Archie Moore weighed as low as 140. Archie Moore into his late 20's weighed in the 160's. So him putting on weight as he got older proved what?

So my point stands little kid, Archie Moore and Ted Lowry two middleweights made Marciano struggle and in Lowry case he beat Marciano and got robbed. So Marciano's best wins in his career was against old 160 pound blown up Archie Moore, old blown up 160-180 pound Ezzard Charles, old 195 pound Joe Louis, and old 180-190 pound Jersey Joe Walcott but yeah beating these guys clearly means he could beat much bigger modern sized heavyweights because size does matter.

Which is why Manny Pac would knockout Marciano in the 2nd or 3rd round. If Pac would beat Hatton like that then clearly he could do the same to Marciano. I will also add Julian Jackson. If he could knock out Terry Norris who was much more skilled than Marciano then Julian Jackson would knock out Marciano in the first round.

Ok, thanks for the response, I am being totally honest when I say, your points and predictions leave me somewhat baffled, as for you saying because Pac ko Hatton then he would clearly do same to Marciano has left me almost speechless, and if I may be so bold, going forward try not to assume that you know how a poster thinks, and also who he favours, that's not possible my friend , for the record I am not a Marciano fan-boy, I do admire and respect his achievement's as a undefeated champion , as I would with any fighter that compiles a record like Marciano's, and lastly, using a rather childish remark such as " little kid " does you a disservice, and only alienates you on this forum, as always feel free to voice your thoughts and opinions, but try to keep your response's mature and civilised , that done they will carry more weight.
This is my last word on our posts, wish you well for the future, and look forward to many more posts between us on other topics. stay safe.

Yes, that group of fighters would probably beat Marciano. He was only one man.
