Things friends say about boxing?

Quite a few of the lads at work cant accept Haye lost once.Even when its in print in front of them they just cant get their heads round it.

I Said this in a thread recently ,

I was talking with an Uncle of mine about boxing and the current 'state' of the Heavyweight division, he shook his head and said "Ali would be turning in his grave!"

Also had to spend half an hour pointing out to an old bloke at work that Bredis Prescott was/ is not a world champ after the Khan fight

 

After reading an article in the scottish sun my mate said that lee mcalister must be some fighter never knew he was a 3 weight world champion!!!

 

thats what guy at my work said after reading an article about Mcaliater how come he had never heard of a multiple world champion like him and why a world champion wants to fight for a european title

 

haha!! i know everyime hes in the scottish papers they make him out to be an elite fighter!!

One of the best ones I read was about Darren Sutherland , r.i.p .A we guy posted somewhere you'd destroy Bernard Dunne. That one got me man I fought it was hillarious .Impossible match-up .

I'm bumping this thread to add one of mine from the weekend...

While talking to my mate, Tomos, we got around to the subject of boxing - he remarked he was reading "the Oscar DLH book."

We were discussing some great fights, this was mainly one-way traffic from myself. I'm not some kind of boxing history guru, but I like to think of myself as a somewhat knowledgeable.

Anywho, I can't remember his exact wording, but this is as close to verbatim as I can manage;

"When it comes down to it, there is one fight that you can't beat for pure excitment...."

I awaited the next part with bated breath.

"Haye-Valuev."

:shock:

After this shocking outburst, I proceeded to ridicule my former friend on one of the most boring spectacles I've ever witnessed.

He actually tried to justify it with, "He's like seven foot tall." Like the size of a boxer is directly proportional to how exciting his fights are.

Anyways - just adding to the list.

 

I saw more action in the crowd than I did in the ring. Counted about 3 fights at that one.


I got in ab arguement with a friend last summer when he came out with 'It's only a game at the end of the day'. He wouldn't stop calling it a game, despite me repeatedly pointing out that legalised GBH isn't 'just a game', so I ended up getting pretty pissed off tbh.
