For me, it's one of those "If you could have been an any fight card" things. 1982 was such an amazing year in boxing. We haven't seen it's like since, or probably before.......

    Holmes-Cooney
    Pryor-Arguello
    Chacon-Limon IV
    The two fights above

It was also a watershed year of a sadder kind, with Mancini-Kim and Sanchez's death.

Gomez is a pleasure to watch. Their fight may not have been at the top of the bill, but it was easily the best fight of the night...and of the year, IMO.

30 years? Wow. And to think almost 20 years ago Jones first beat Hopkins. We really do not have the fighters now that we did then. We have good fighters, but not the head to head matchups like this.

the first half of the year was a complete bust (Hearns-Geraldo, Hagler-lee, Benitez Duran)

the only positive note was the emregence of Tony Sibson as the #1 spot in the middleweight div

things turned around in the summer (When Summer Lovers came out)

the first of which was Teddy Sander's tko of Alex Ramos then the Animal Fletcher fights which were televised. Dwight Braxton looked like a good bet to beat Spinks in a unification with his violent rubouts of Saad Muhammud & E Davis.... Sanchez-Nelson,,, the first telvised fight of Hector Camacho & the Tony Ayala sodimizations of Epps & Gregory

By Sept of that year, the threat of Duran seemed like a thing of the past, certainly not taken as a serious threat to Ayala

Also memorable was Aguello's 1 punch ko of K Rooney

The highlight of the year was probably Pryor-Arguello

nobody likes to mention it but Mancini-Kim

I remember all those fights. Mancini/Kim in the afternoon on a Sat. or Sunday. That whole situation was very depressing and the days after it. The Arguello/Pryor fight was incredible. That is a fight which lifted Alexis higher in the ATG ranking regardless of the fact that he lost.

I think the Pryor fight was on a Friday and the Kim fight was held on the next day CBS sports Saturday
