Loads of fighters get knocked down early in their careers. Even De La Hoya when he was young.. Trinidad...

As you get older your chin can improve as well as your general experience and skills. People get too obsessed with knock downs

It's the kind of knockdowns though, I don't mind somebody gets hit on the chin, falls down and get up ok.

Khan got hit in the amateurs and his legs were all over the place, he was like bambi... it was worrying. The only other fighter I've seen like that was Carl Johanneson against Gogoladze and look what happened when he fought a puncher...
Then against Limmond, it wasn't just a knockdown, he was hurt and wobbling all over the place against a guy without KO power...

    Those knockdowns aren't innocent ones.

It's not that Khan's been knocked down twice that's worrying, it's the way he's been knocked down and hurt.

True, I think he's still growing, he looks light boned.

If i was managing him he would still be an amateur now getting the **** kicked out of him.

That's why I think the Limmond fight was a learning experience - he was getting a bit too cocky and it showed that he wasn't a flawless fighter. I had hoped it would have been a humbling one too, but he seems to have gotten his confidence back and then some.

A defence can improve but unfortunately your chin cannot.

I'd say Khan is reasonably quick but its easy to look quick if your opponent is just standing there without throwing and his power has only been tested on the chins of limited or shot opponents therefore thats also a big question mark. His defence sucks 100% lol

Im not saying he will never amount to anything but as far as im concerned he is still an open book with everything to prove. (he wont be able to prove **** with opponents like his next one :? )

Exactly.... If you've got a dodgy button then your not going to suddenly get to your 25th birthday and get presented with a new one. Your defence and mental approach can improve and also your fluid content may mean you are less suceptable but thats it.

He might not have a solid chin. But, I dont think its china, probably average. I mean if it was china he would've certainly been knocked out or stopped atleast once in 99 amatuer fights but he hasnt to my knowledge

Wasn't David Tua knocked unconcious for something like fifteen minutes when he was an amateur?

Not sure it was that long but he was heavily concussed by Felix Savon.

I think what they are trying to say Jeff is that the fighters ability to take a shot and go throguh the pain barrier gets better with age. As Khan fights bigger punchers he will become more used to taking there shots, and eventually they will not faze him as much.

Due to his age Amir has had alot less fights than anyone else at his level. Don't get me wrong he will never be a gatti, walking through shots. But he could be like a Hatton or Mayweather, who you can see have learnt over the years what to do when being hit.

The big problem when Amir went down was not actually being hit, but that he tried to jump up straight away instead of steadying himself. If he continues to do this against top oppo he will end up like Enzo Mac did the other week. If he learns from this he could do what Haye did agaisnt Mormeck.

I don't think Amir has a bad chin, he is just not used to being hit and knocked down due to the superior skills he has over fighters he has faced so far.
