How a fighter comports himself in and out of the ring ties directly to whether boxing fans root for him or not. You can like the thug act of Broner if you wish, most everyone including blacks dislike and are embarrassed by the way Broner comports himself. You still have'nt answered my question. You like Broner calling to his dad and asking him to brush his hair? You like the way he puts down women? Are you a clown like Broner to call a woman a ***** or a hoe? If you are, then I'm see why you like and defend the immature clown!
People think guys like Chael Sonnen and Paulie Malignaggi who talk trash are funny, yet hate guys like Mayweather and Broner. Why is that? And those c0cky white guys like Sonnen/Paulie aren't even as good as the c0cky black fighters but still get less hate. Why?
When did Paulie Malignaggi flush money down a toilet? Or burn it in a nightclub? Maybe he did, but when did he publicise that? The fact is there are men of different colours who do these things, one that comes to mind is Charlie Nicholas, a former footballer and white man, who reportedly blew his nose in a note at a bar when confronted by members of the public. As a result, I don't like Charlie Nicholas. I'm sure there are racists who dislike Broner and Mayweather. They probably don't like Andre Ward either, and they probably couldn't stand Roy Jones. And they are wrong. But sometimes people dislike others simply because of the way they behave. Such is often the case with Mr. Broner!
Well sort of. People hate Chael Sonnen from what I can tell, he's not universally loved by any means. When he was talking all of that trash to Silva - who is for the most part a pretty decent sort - people didn't like it and didn't support him. With Paulie I think it comes down to a couple of reasons why his brand of ****iness gets something of a pass. 1) he was an underdog in this fight and it's hard not root for the underdog 2) we've seen that he has heart in past fights. The guy has gone far in his career with zero power in a sport where power is essential. 3) bottom line: his trash talk was much more clever than Broner's. Whereas Broner came off looking stupid, slow and dim (as far as the trash talk was concerned), Paulie came out looking smarter and quicker.
