It's for hyping up the fight.

What do you think sounds better,

    INVASION:
    PHILIPPINES VS THE WORLD

    or

    ARANETA COLISEUM BOXING:
FILIPINO PROSPECTS VS INTERNATIONAL TOMATO CANS

Yes, the "Tomato can" label's harsh. I was exaggerating. They werent bums, but they werent Class A either.

the biggest mismatch that night was banal and the dude from uruguay. and even that dude has a good record. everyone in here flamed boomboom for having a china-chin, now that he faced a opponent lower than the class hw took on before, some guys are crying that it's unfair.

so boomboom vs ponce de leon, not a mismatch then
boomboom vs camargo, is suddenly a mismatch? what the hell do you want the guy to do? continue being knocked out cold by big punchers? of course they'll try to get him opponents that he could beat.

if you want mismatches, go to thailand. filipinos in the pro debuts fight world caliber champs there. no foreign fighter was ever seriously hurt when in the philippines. a filipino died in thailand a few months ago because the fought to former champs in the span of weeks.

don't look at us and wash you hands by saying we spoonfeed our fighters. how many wins does julio cesar chavez have? how many of those opponents actually had a chance at winning?

wow undie! herreras record was not good at all. try to look beyond his numbers and youll discover that this guy was nothing.

herreras last fights going tot he banal bout:
    monte (13-4-3)
    vicente (16-10-0)
    narvaes (10-9-1)
    lopez (17-14-3)
    toledo (10-14-3)
    martinez (13-7-0)
    toledo (10-12-3)
    amado (8-12-3)

and the best record of any of his opponent in his resume was tihs
    caruso (8-1-1).

as to camargo, his record going to the fight was this:
    W KO3 espinosa (2-18-0)
    W TKO1 acosta (1-14-0)
    L TKO3 yanes (13-0-0)
    W tko1 lopez (6-7-1)
    W TKO1 castro (0-1-0)
    L UD6 marquez (9-0-3)

and tell me, where do the sanctioning bodies place camargos name in their rankings? i believe he was nowhere near the top ten (or even top 15)

and grapevine talks has it that GBP boys decided to feed boom with a patsy to boost his confidence. that shocking lost to deleon must have been very demoralizing.

as to sor vor, hes a done fighter, old, washed-up. do you really expect an 82 fight pro to put on a good show against a master? much more beat him?

they were all mismatches. its feeding the wolves, not exactly an invasion. :thumbsupnuff said.

im not handwashing dude, nor blaming our fighters for that. if youll read my article once more youll see my point.
that this whole invasion thing was nothing but another craze designed to boost the marketability of the fighters at the expense of real fights and genuine sense of national pride.

i wasn't referring to you bro. i'm was actually telling that to the non-filipinos who dropped by and started insulting the whole card.

when it comes to boomboom, anyone who can punch has a chance to beat him because he is china-chinned. penalosa's case was rather odd becasue his opponent was not handpicked, unlike the other matches. vorapin was really the number 1 challenger so we really could not do anything about that. as i've said before, the banal fight was the most obvious mismatch.

if camargo connected before boomboom did, it wouldn't be a mismatch at all.

You forgot Bernabe Concepcion!! That's our best bet at 122. He's better than Boom-Boom.

i can hear you dude. still a mismatch anyway:good
i still doubt if he could take out boom with a punch, or even with a combo. looking at his record made me skeptic. look at the way he throws punches, too wild and wide. boom lands neat counters anytime.
