He hasn't been gunshy for all of his career no but I think after the Ruiz loss Joshua seemed to be inbetween styles.

Like yesterday was a perfect example of it why was Joshua fighting cautiously on the backfoot in the 1st round ? He should've been assertive looking to land that right hand.

AJ has fought lots of KO artists, legit bangers and big punchers amateur and pro

    Wlad
    Povetkin
    Dubois
    Whyte
    J-Park
    Fat Andy x 2
    Martin
    Helenius

    Amateurs

    Cammarelle x 2
    Big Bang Zhang
    Big Joe Joyce
    Majidov
    Savon
    Dychko
    Frazer Clarke
    Nistor
    Kuzmin

Compare that to someone say like Crawford who many feel is P4P#1. He's barely fought any, especially ones his size other than Madrimov and Mean Machine

Or look at a P4P#1 from a previous generation like Roy? Everyone was like ''This guy is god'' and I was like 'Er.. hello? This guy ain't got no chin and he ducking legit bangers like they got leprosy. You wait till he starts facing legit bangers''

As I keep saying it's a different ballgame when you're facing KO artists and legit bangers. It's the difference between crossing a field with some broken bottles scattered on it and crossing a minefield.

But ya'll hating on AJ

    Thank you Serge

I'm no AJ fan but it's overboard here right now

He got absolutely battered last night but he has had a fantastic career

People saying he ducked Wilder are on some heavy crack
Wilder wouldn't even fight Dillian Whyte ffs

Some of his wins, the fighters were passed prime but I'd love to see a list of alternatives
At that point, the division was in a state of change and the fighters in their 30s were clinging to thier rankings
So you fight these contenders (remember the orgs determines this)

Lads a bit weird with the stuff he says but he gave British Boxing a real boost and in turn ended up getting other brits paydays they otherwise would never have got because of the boom period

    You're welcome

Yes, he's fought a lot of KO artists and big punchers and beat a lot of very good fighters. Sure, Wlad and Povetkin were 41 and 39 y/o respectively and well past their primes but they were still good fighters and extremely powerful KO artists with one shot KO power in both hands.

Dubois is a devastating punching 250lb man mountain with a KO 95% with devastating power in both hands and an excellent and extremely powerful jab and he's also got skills and speed too. He could KO anyone

AJ's career is somewhat similar to Lennox Lewis' career. Both big punching British HW champs and Olympic gold medalists who have been stopped twice. Lewis avenged both KO loses, AJ has avenged one and has a chance to avenge the other. Difference is AJ has two losses to a generational great and slick southpaw in Usyk, Lewis never fought a slick southpaw, let alone a generational great one of Usyk's calibre otherwise he would have two Ls to them too

The Dosser is useless and had he shared a ring with AJ he would've got the Charles Martin treatment

I don't even like AJ, especially after his post-fight meltdown against Usyk, but he's fought almost everyone, has had a great career, and has achieved an awful lot

You also have to factor in The Chin. It absolutely matters.

AJ is too tentative. He did have some success in round 5 after he let his hand go but then forgot to defend against counters. If he had better jabbing/clinching technique he could do it to Dubois all night. I mean seeing him stepping back with his hands at his chest after he has been rocked with overhead punches - damn, what was he thinking?

I’ve watched that fight a few times over the years and it’s certainly a strange one, Klitschko really did let Joshua off the hook that night, only thing I can think off is the hard drive sewn into the hood of his boxing robe which he was going to auction off for charity, which among other things apparently told how and which way the fight would go and how he would win. My guess was it said a points decision win but Joshua caught him down the stretch and stopped him in the 11th round and ended that auction .

And last night we saw Joshua do what many said Klitchko should have done: go for the kill when the opponent was hurt. It was a big mistake.

AJ's downfall reminds me of Ronda Rousey's. After losing, they lost their entire confidence and brain froze in the ring afterwards completely unsure of themselves and not fighting on instincts anymore.
