I actually find the fight very intriguing. Mostly because I want to see what Roy can do. Edit: To clarify, the reason I find it intriguing is because I have great respect for Calzaghe's ability, and this will be a great litmus test to find out what Roy has left. Calzaghe is for real, and Jones won't be able to slip by if he isn't performing.
But before the Tarver and Pavlik fights, Hopkins hadn't spent the last 5 years being badly beaten by good fighters and winning against poor fighters. The two situations are completely different. Jones is shot, Hopkins never was. The thread-starter is right, the fight is a sham.
Finally a logical person, Straight swap Roy Jones into Bernard Hopkins shoes the night he fought Tarver and Roy would've either been Knocked spark out or lose a decision just like he has everytime he fought tarver(apart from the first time in which I believe Tarver was robbed) I also believe Pavlik could possibly beat Roy, Roy doesn't deal with stationery come forward fighters like hopkins does, Roy got destroyed By Tarver and had a much much harder time against an incredibly shot tito which hopkins took to school, since the ruiz fight RJJ has been just a contender, every time he fought the very best of the light heavyweight division since coming down he's lost plain and simple. I bet 1k on Calzaghe to win at my local TAB that's how confident I am
I agree with your scoring of the fight Hopkin/Calzaghe fight!! Does Roy have a chance? I hate to say it but Roy has been less than his best since coming down from heavy weight - the facts say he has no chance, but then anything is possible. As an old fan I'm hoping he can pull this one out of the bag, and in style too! If Obama can win...... anything is possible
your back :happy:happy:happy just tell me 1 thing pacfan if you were in JC shoes fighting your last fight would you have taken the fight with the most money
Calzaghe has unfinished business with Roy Jones Jnr, Jones was getting all the credit for being the greatest fighter of the 90s and would not fight Calzaghe ? Hopkins will get his rematch with Calzaghe at the Millenium Stadium Cardiff, if he accepts terms {he is notoriously difficult to deal with, he accepted a fight with Calzaghe years ago only to double his demands the next day} Calzaghe will not take no messing off Hopkins he will just fight somebody else, but i am sure Hopkins will be offered a rematch as Calzghe attempts to get to 50 and 0, this would be a fight Calzaghe knows he will win again, as Calzaghe was terrible against Hopkins first time round, he even admitted this to his Sister back home in Wales just after the fight, saying he was very disappointed with his performance. Although Hopkins fans also thought their man was poor, Calzaghe would be a cast iron certainty to beat him more convincingly next time {i bet you the bookies would have Calzaghe 10 to 1 odds on favourite, if the fight was in Wales against old man Hopkins}
