I must admit that the OP has a point.

    - but anyone who respects either Chisora or Haye for their various antics, and calls one of them a "G" like it's some great thing, is an idiot.

YES!! I agree with everyone in this thread. Rioting is good for boxing! It denotes passion, fury and desire, the hallmarks of this beautiful sport.

Anarchy is our civil liberty! It is our right!

Dereck Chisora and David Haye are HEROES. I would gladly put either up for BBC Sports Personality of the Year and I hope they both make The Queen's New Year's Honours List.

Boxing as a sport with rules and federations has been created as an anti-thesis to bar fights and brawls. Street fighting is not a subset or extension of boxing.

I don't mind a ruckus as long as it doesn't cancel the fight, real violence doesn't break out (stabbings etc) and it isn't phony.

Chisora brought it in the fight, that's what really counts. I don't care about what a scumbag he is in real life as long as he doesn't murder/**** somebody (hitting his girlfriend is very bad though). Mayweather is not a nice person in real life either.

I dunno - while this sort of thing can create a burst of short term interest, it also kinda labels the sport as a sideshow and builds false expectations. Nowhere is this more true than in the case of Haye - the way he acts at press conferences you expect to see something like prime Tyson come fight night. But all you really get to see is a shamefully cornrowed dude running in circles and complaining about his toes. What really helps the sports are matchups that deliver - getting casual fans suckered in to watch a boring fight is negative in the long term.

The popularity of boxing revolves around excitement both in and out of the ring. Guys like Chisora provide the former with outlandish antics, but don't seem to back it up in the ring through victories or exciting fights.

Get the right combination of both and you've got the next Ali/Tyson.

Are they training on the ****ing street? No! Once you're in a boxing gym, you're training for a sport. Poor people all around the world find success from the streets going into sports, does that make all sports all about the street? Those kids in Brazil who play soccer barefoot, that's ****ing street right?

You guys are seriously making a mockery of the sport. If it was anything like you thought it was then you'd be watching something like bum fights. I can't believe you guys think fighters slapping each other and creating riot where trainers and other innocent people get hurt is good.

Only people looking ignorant and stupid are people like you , sorry.

Haye did the right thing given the circumstances by punching Gsora for being in his personal space. This wasn't no weigh in.

You on the other hand talk like you think Haye should have just waited on Gsora, a big man trained to hurt people with punches, to strike first. congrats on sounding ignorant and stupid once again.

I enjoy most fights. Many of which you don't like. So freaking what

Gsora's sportsmanship had no influence on his actual performance against Vitali. He fought like anything but a bum. You fail.

Personal space, are you kidding me? So every time there's a face off should these fighters just hook off? Look dude, Chisora and Haye are getting fined/arrested for a reason. Manny Pacquiao seems to be doing just fine getting people to watch his fights without punching and slapping people outside of fights.

Boxing hasn't lost it's mainstream status because of thugs, because of boring matches and too many mismatches for examples. Footballs full of thugs yet doesn't seem to lose it's mainstream status.

No excuse for the brawl though so I ain't defending that.

That wasn't a scheduled face off for a press tour or weigh in. Fact is Gsora said the day before the fight he would slap Haye, and showed he has a willingness to do that kind of stuff when he slapped Vitali the other day.

manny pacquiao hasn't ever had anyone confront him the way Gsora did, nor did he ever have to deal with a nut like that yet.

And I sounded ignorant and stupid... so unless you schedule a face off these fighters have to start throwing punches every time someone comes near them. Hahaha. You can't defend these guys, man. They're acting like animals. Haye did fine talking himself into a big fight with Wlad without throwing punches and he can do it again.

Look at who Haye was dealing with yesterday. Gsora isn't no ordinary man. Even you know this judging from the kind of posts you've been making.

Wlad is far from being as wild as Gsora.

We're talking outside the ring but even inside it... If you can get away with it, do it. Maybe cricket would be more your kind of sport.
