Was thinking the same thing myself. DINAMITA is an excellent and well informed member whose posts seem to be a magnet for idiots who want to argue with their betters!

Unlike you, my logic is not dictated solely by money.

If Ottke could have got x million dollars for fighting Jones in the USA, which is the same amount as he could have got for fighting Robin Reid in Germany, then why do you agree that he was best served to stay in Germany and fight Reid??

Don't glory, greatness and legacy mean anything to you?

Sure, Ottke obviously agreed with you because he never did leave to chase Jones, but that doesn't mean all others had the same mentality.

The name Clinton Woods springs to mind... British balls!

Whilst he was at welterweight did he ever actually say that he was better at light welterweight?

Pryor desperately tried to get a fight with Ray Leonard, but due to various circumstances such as fight schedules and Ray's tight demands, it never materialized.

And if Hagler would've made as much money fighting Spinks as he did for fighting Leonard, then Hagler most definitely would've fought Spinks.

Did Tarver become pfp best when he beats Roy? Hatton is going to try to fight a smart, defensive fight, but you don't have to worry. After Pac plasters Hatton, Hatton will stay in the UK until his career is over. Picking Hatton over Hop or J.M.M if Pac were to beat Pac is blastphemy.

Because I'm looking at it from the perspective of the fighter rather than from the perspective of a boxing fan. It's high reward/low risk versus high reward/high risk.

Of course, but making money means even more than something as subjective and impractical as "greatness".

Thank you. That's the point of the thread. I do classify him as admirable.

    How so?

What about Hagler would've led you to believe that had he been offered $10 million to fight Spinks, he would've backed out?

    And I don't.

And if you could address my question as to why you believe fighters are avoiding Pacquiao, it would clear things up for me. Because based on evidence (post-fight interviews, written accounts, etc) that's clear to all boxing fans to see, your statement is total bull****.
