I understand its only your opinion. But where is the empirical proof that it will cause "serious health complications". When you look at ageing bodybuilders and powerlifters they dont seem to have any more issues than another segment. I have yet to see any proof of this. Many people proclaim dangers and just sprew them out as fact, but please post a legitimate link showing long term issues.

I'm not saying you are incorrect, just that those terms are used as scare tactics by people with no real knowledge.

check out www.steriodabuse.gov .There are of course many other articles on the "web" written by medical professionals regarding the dangers of long term steriod abuse. As for the ageing body-builders and power-lifters, no doubt many of them have suffered serious health problems (Arnie being the highest profile case in point??). Some of these health problems may simply be due to the ageing process, but long-term steriod abuse can indeed cause "Serious health complications".

There are no known deaths from Steroid abuse. There are a massive amount of untruths and sheer myths surrounding hormone abuse.

The problem is the combinations of drugs ingested can cause a myriad of unencountered for side effects. HGH or Steroids alone will not kill anyone. If they did hospitals wouldnt be succesfully using these drugs for 70 plus years with excellent results. The side effects of Steroids and HGH was what prompted its use in athletic circles during the late 50's and 60's. That said long term use of any form of hormone WILL have side effects, namely Liver Kidney and Heart issues. That much is a fact.

Contrary to the reports Arnie already had a Heart "problem" when he was a competitive bodybuilder. Wether this was exacerbated by the Steroid overdose he took is merely conjecture. And i dont know any former BB's or Power Lifters that have suffered serious problems as a result of hormone use/abuse. Can you name any?

This is a sticky subject to say the least. All I can say for certain is that long term, uninterrupted use should be avoided.

Like everything else in life, educate yourself!

Obviously the chronically ill people with catabolic desease would fall into a seperate category in regads to long term, continous useage.

No disrespect mate, but unless you are part of Arnie's "inner circle" you will not know the exact cause of his heart problems. But you are right, I really don't know what caused his problems, so I was wrong to use him as an example (I did put a ?? after his name, in the original post). Besides the issue here is that medical professionals DO state that long-term steroid abuse CAN cause serious medical problems!! You asked for proof, I advised you to view a site (There are 1000s of such sites, as I am sure you are aware) you viewed it and dismissed it's contents, that's fine. Personally, my knowledge of steroid abuse is limited to anecdotal gym tales from users and friends and what I have read about steroids and their possible adverse effects on a persons health. And what i've read, from medical experts, and from what I have been advised from friends has been more than sufficient to prevent me from taking them!! As for the 550,00 Americans who get diagnosed with heart problems every year, sad though that statistic is, what on Earth have they got to do with athletes/people taking steroids? The fact is that there IS a huge amount of material available for those who want to know the possible risks associated with long-term steroid abuse. If people wish to dis-regard the information that is available, that is up to them. I really hope that no-one's health ever suffers as a result of steroid abuse, but my advice to anyone considering taking them is simple! DONT!! But if you are going to them please become as informed as possible, instead of jumping in by taking the advice people who either know nothing or chose to ignore the advice of experts. All anyone has to do is google "dangers of steroid abuse" to receive more information!

Mate, if you want "Names" all you have to do is visit a "Hard-core" body-building gym and ask around, I am sure you will find plenty of people who will know of friends etc, who have suffered health problems which they will consider to be steroid abuse related! Of course It is possible that the world class BB's/athletes etc may not be as "At risk" as the average user, because the world class athletes will probably have a "Support unit" of doc(s) experts, etc available for advice on dosage etc. But medical experts (And if there is one reading this, please do speak up, one way or the other) do proclaim that there IS a possible risk to health that IS linked to long-term steroid abuse!!! And of course, we are talking about "GENUINE" steroids here, how about the thousands of rubbish concoctions that constitute a "Fake" steroid?? What the hell are those?? Even the growth hormone user could be vulnerable ( CGH?). The fact is that the risk may be small (I for one would love it to non-existent!!) but that risk will undoubtedly be multiplied by increased and constant dosage and poor knowledge of what exactly they are taking! All anyone has to do is google "dangers of steroid abuse" to receive more information.

Anything taken outside of moderation is bound to have consequences that much is a given which i have not disputed. What i asked you to do was name me some high profile names that have suffered health issues as a direct result of hormone use/abuse. The answer to that question is none. Too much scare mongering goes on surrounding hormones because there is so much mis-information. Im not an advocate of hormones in the slightest but i am a realist. And all the FACTS indicate deaths in extreme cases have been from a slew of drugs or already known physical conditions. No amount of HGH or Steroids has killed anyone. That much is a fact.

Chris Benoit's family represent known deaths caused by steroid abuse, but I know that's not what you meant.

Once you admitted your knowledge was limited I stopped reading. I appreciate your honesty. We all have google and can do what you did and just form an opinion from a search. I have do have many many years within that relm but I will concede if given simple real word examples.

    On to talking MMA.

How is that a "known death" from steroid abuse? How do you separate or determine a crime caused by streroids vs one thats not?

100s of murders are commited a day, but you say its a known death that this one was caused by the juice? Get the **** out of here.

 Benoits brain was that of an 80 years old according to the autopsy. That much i can testify too after seeing the amount of blunt force trauma that he suffered throughout his entire career. The same blunt force trauma he experienced is what NFL players and boxers also suffer from.

Attributing what he did soley to Steroid abuse is the height of stupidity. As firstly there is no clinical relation whatsoever to the fabled "roid rage". And secondly Benoit was proven to be mentally impaired by the damage to his brain over the years of his wrestling career. How you've managed to make a definitive correlation between that and hormones is beyond me.

Good point. Do a google search for the dangers of toilets or oxygen or anything you want and you'll find a million links. Its all speculation.
