They are not, that's why the 5 promoters (in absolute control over all match-ups) should actually use their influence at least for this tournament for things to be fair and impartial, don't you think?
Well seeing as Froch and Kessler are so bad you Yanks wont have any interest in watching them in March. So while Europe is watching the best fight of the tourny so far you can watch a re run of Dirrell or Ward or dancing with the stars as it amounts to the same thing as watching them 2 boring pricks!
Its ruined because Dirrell was robbed. The difference is he WON the fight and had it taken away. Kessler got beat down and NO ONE should even try to think he ever really had the slightest chance to win.
Basically this has nothing to do with the Super 6, it is a general problem for boxing a fair sport. There are no way of upholding the rules. Noone dares to refuse to fight because rules are broken. There are no consequences for breaking the rules unless you use loaded gloves. The whole sport of boxing is governed in a very poor way. Many posters here that are unable to see the problem further than their own interests. This is something that all boxing fans should be able to agree on. Not just resoting to the dead end sollution that you also cheated in this fight or that fight. Everyone has cheated - everyone.
It has been poor. Froch and Dirrell both deserved points docked, but Dirrell should have been told to cut out the holding in the second round. There was no excuse for it. Ward boxed well on Saturday, but again the ref should not have allowed him to use holding to shut down Kessler's offence. It's not a legal tactic. it was clear what he was doing by the third round and the ref was warning Kessler for it! terrible officiating in both cases - but they need to adopt a zero tolerance policy.
Everyone's complaining about Ward's holding, the fact is that when they got in clinches, even though Ward may have initiated them, he kept fighting while Kessler was the one holding waiting for the ref to break them. Watch the fight again and see how many times the ref told Kessler to let go as opposed to how many times he told Ward. What Ward did to Kessler was brilliant, he completely shut down his offense. I felt like I was watching a young Bernard Hopkins.
Why don't you call shotime and tell them to cancel it!!!! stop crying your boy got his ass kick no one cheated, it is not called pillow fighting it's boxing and head butts happen all the time in this sport, kessler just meet a guy who was a much better and smarter boxer then he was.:yep
the tournament is better than ever and its sure to create at least 1 if not 2 real superstars you're just butthurt that your fighter lost.
don't exagerrate. People thought the same thing of Ndou vs Malignaggi when the ref helped him out and then in the rematch Ndou pretty much won the fight. Those kind of things can make a big difference.
As far as crybaby threads go - and there has been a garbage dump worth around here since Saturday night; this is probably the whiniest most pathetic of the entire shitbowl. OP sounds like a young girl.
Honestly, why are people such ***gots on this board? This is a boxing match. It ain't always going to be pretty. Headbutts are part of the game. They weren't intentional.
Ward put on a really good performance, lets not forget that and he did convincly win against Kessler. If you took away the headbutts and the holding it was a fantastic win really. It wasn`t a hometown decision its just the ref was a bit suspect. It wasn`t like Frochs dodgy win against Dirrell. If Andre Dirrell and Andre Ward clean up their act they`ll both be in the final for sure and will deserve it.Could be greats in the making them two.
I don't think it's ruined at all, and I personally can't wait for the next round. I think it could have been done BETTER. Would have been cool if there were NO hometown fights at all. Schedule all the fights on the same day, one after the other, and play the other fights live on the jumbotron. So Ward / Kessler could have taken place in England, for example, and the people in the arena in The States could have seen that fight before they watched Abraham / Taylor or something. I think that would have been a great & unprecedented way to use modern technology to create a true World Boxing Classic that would have minimal bias. Of course, I know I'm dreaming, because many would argue (and probably be right) that ticket sales would suck and it would never work. But hey, like I said, we can all dream, can't we?
