I agree, if you watch that fight it was only competitive for the first 2 minutes, after that it was Hagler walking down Hearns. Sure the cut added to the suspense but I think Leonard-Hearns was a far better fight.
A great fight. I paid twenty bucks to stand in the middle of a huge gym with 4000 other fans all talking above the nearly inaudible commentary in a broadcast of the fight. (pre PPV days). I had Hearns ahead at the time of stoppage and was a bit surprised as I was expecting Leonard to do better. Years later, I watched the rematch, and IMO, Tommy was robbed of the W. My favourite fight from that era, which I watched under similar conditions, was Leonard-Duran (1) in Montreal.
