Hearns dies in the ring, and I'm not joking. And I say that as a Hearns fan.

Not a fair matchup imo. Hearns was really a lower weight fighter. Kovalev too big for him.

How the hell did Hearns make 147?

    Hang on here.

Is Hearns really that outmatched by Kovalev at 175? Sure his chin was shaky but Hearns' boxing skills were as sharp as ever and he could still whack at 175.

Why do some posters see this as a virtual mismatch? Hearns is about the same size as Kovalev, is not outmatched physically by him at all, has sharp boxing skills...has Kovalev ever faced anyone of Hearns' unquestioned caliber?

Kovalev is a tough proposition at 175, but basically just a strong, well-schooled boxer. I don't think he's exceptional. Beating granddad Hopkins - by decision - is not enough to convince me.

Maybe. But that is a different set of circumstances.

I like Kovalev. Good, rugged, well-schooled puncher. But for me not great, at least not yet.

He may find Hearns a tougher nut to crack than originally thought.
