Better Chin??? Who's he fought? If anything, Hearns chin gets underrated. I'm a Crawford fan but cmon.
Crawford too hittable early and Hearns so often started fast. I could see Hearns dropping him early because of that and he was such a good finisher Crawford might not make it beyond rd 3. If Crawford can survive the early rounds he still has an upward battle. Hearns speed, height and reach was simply not normal, plus his jab, remember Hearns out boxed Leonard from range, Crawford isn't out boxing Hearns. Crawford is a counter puncher and that's hard to too vs a fighter who just picks you off from the outside and prevents you from being in range to counter. So Hearns wins, yeah Crawford has a punchers chance but there's a good chance Hearns stops him before that happens or he simply keeps Crawford at bay and wins a decision.
I was just watching Crawford-Gamboa recently and realized Craw has never been in serious trouble that I can think of (even though he did a bit of the chicken dance in this one). Has TC ever been seriously hurt?
Hearns is the nightmare matchup for just about everyone at 147 ever. This is going to be Crawford's most difficult opponent by far than anyone he's faced by a motor city mile, as his competition is pretty paltry over his career compared to Hearns. Hearns mixed it up with Leonard, Hagler, Duran, Benitez, Pipino Cuevas, Barkley, Hill, etc. So I'm going with Hearns, more proven against better competition.
Hearns lost 1x at WW (to an ATG), was undefeated at JMW (and beat 2 ATGs), and 3x at MW (once to an ATG, and twice to probably the physically largest MW in history). His entire career, he was never outboxed.........ever. And he's probably the prototype of the most elite God tier boxer puncher that could ever exist. There's no scenario I can envision Crawford outboxing or winning a firefight against him. He'd stop Crawford brutally.
I wouldn't favor anybody over the last 40 years over Hearns at welterweight. And certainly not Terence Crawford.
