BTW, which specific rounds did you feel that Golovkin clearly won? Like which rounds would be outrageous for anyone to score for Canelo?
I've noticed that before (here and elsewhere). It's like their professed scores are just after-the-fact expressions of their gut feelings about the fact. Which would be fine if boxing wasn't scored on a round by round basis...
Those who scored it for Canelo gave him 3-4 rounds where he was out landed. I'd have to see another score card to question it. Rounds 4, 5, 10, and 11 I thought were clear Golovkin rounds. You will see crap on the judges cards in these rounds where GGG clearly out landed Canelo. Yet the judges gave some of these rounds to Canelo. In the later rounds GGG also had him hurt. I even gave Canleo the 12th. Here is how I had it. GGG / Canelo 10-9 9-10 9-10 10-9 10-9 9-10 10-10 10-9 10-9 10-9 10-9 9-10 Total. 7-4-1 for GGG. ESB Poll results: GGG 252 vote(s) 66.8% Canelo Alvarez 87 vote(s) 23.1% Draw 38 vote(s) 10.1% GGG 252 vote(s) 66.8% Canelo Alvarez 87 vote(s) 23.1% Draw 38 vote(s) 10.1%
That's interesting--I thought 12 was one of Golovkin's better rounds. One of the very few rounds where I thought he clearly did more damage than Canelo.
I think there will be certain people, who are upset with the result, because it perhaps interferes with their love of quoting numbers, which include an '0' - Or words, which are associated with such a number, like "undefeated". Ultimately, only one set of letters and numbers counts, in this case... ...W MD 12.
Only those who Applaud robberies think that way. Be honest you wanted Canelo to win and will accept cards that 75 percent or more see as bogus.
We agree you’re entitled to your opinion. You don’t need to play last word freak time and again just because you’re consistently on the overwhelming minority opinion side.
Depends on how hard they were going. If Povetkin was working on speed and movement and Golovkin was working on sitting down on his punches, it could be true. Sparring isn't always the most reliable indicator.
Golovkin won the first fight and got jobbed for the draw. I can understand claims of robbery for that fight. The 2nd fight was tight, at least 3 or 4 swing rounds, and that obviously plays a big part in the scorecards depending on how you see it. To me it seems Canelo was getting the nod in all these rounds. I had GGG winning just, but winning nonetheless. I have no qualm with Canelo getting the nod in a tight fight. Close fights do not equate to robbery
