That's what was supposed to happen right? The whole buildup to this fight was that Pacquiao was a vastly improved fighter and that he would be to big and too strong for Marquez. I never bought into the idea that Pacquiao had vastly improved, but I believed he would be too big and strong for Marquez. Well, that's not what happened. Marquez looked slow and a bit sluggish out there, but he boxed beautifully. He almost completely took away Manny's left hand, and gave The Pac Man a boxing lesson. I had Marquez winning 7 or 8 rounds, but I knew he wouldn't get the decision. That's just how boxing works. Marquez knew he wouldn't get the decision. For him, I don't think this fight was about getting a win. I think this fight for him was about proving that despite all the hype surrounding Pacquiao about how great he is, that Pacquiao is the same fighter he was 7 years ago when they first met. I think Marquez proved his point emphatically, and showed just how great of a fighter he is. On a side note, the HBO team know no bounds when it comes to slurping Pacquiao. There was one round that Marquez clearly won, yet all the HBO guys could do was talk about how amazing Pac's footwork was. After the round, they showed a highlight of Pacquiao moving from one spot to another. I was thinking, "why aren't you showing him getting punched in the face like what happened over and over again in that round?" Lastly, you can't mention Pacquiao anymore without bringing up Mayweather. If it wasn't obvious beforehand, it's obvious now that Pacquiao would have major issues with Mayweather.
it did end all doubt, marquez always was and always will be the greater fighter. people on forums like this have always talked about pacquiao being a different fighter than the 1st time he chose to get in to the ring with marquez but really all pacquiao did is fight people who suited his style. i've always said that as long as marquez could handle the weight it woudn't be close and i was proved right. marquez is the greatest mexican fighter of all time. :deal
Perhaps the only real difference between this fight and the previous two was that JMM managed to go the distance without conceding 10-8 rounds this time around. There's really nothing to counteract the fact JMM was landing the cleaner blows throughout the fight. No knockdowns, no point deductions, no effective aggression - nothing.
It kinda sucks I know deep down marquez beat pac quite comfortably. If floyd was to beat pac now, would it truly be that amazing, I mean if we are all honest a 38 year old fighter that was fighting well above his weight class just did that and looked emphatic doing it.
It did. This is what it ended doubts on: Marquez would have to KTFO Pacquiao because Bob will pay off whoever necessary to keep his cash cow alive. Bob Arum will never allow Manny anywhere near a ring containing Mayweather. Boxing took a black eye last night, the two main events of the evening turned out to be complete busts. Casa-Bradley was boring as ****, and Pacquiao-Marquez was a robbery.
It has been the issue with pac-marquez fights, its the knockdowns that make it close. Now marquez took care of that, in fact he perform better this time around that even if pac were to knock him down once i would still see it for him
i've said it before tonight and have always believed it, marquez is the most technically skilled latino fighter of all time. he is complete in all areas, he can throw every punch in the book. P4P 126 marquez schools 140 chavez, 140 marquez outboxes 140 chavez. i know after fights people get hyped and make some bold statements but i've believed it along time. his legacy is complete, he will now be remembered as the best fighter of the fab 4 (marquez, pacquiao, barrera and morales). marquez has nothing left to prove, he should be a 4 weight world champion and it would have been right if he beat pacquiao and then fought morales and beat him to become the only ever mexican to be a 5 weight world champion but it wasn't to be. juan manuel for me is the greatest mexican to lace em up.

The main thing here is that Marquez was making Pac miss and he made him pay. Pac was gun shy and in one round I think 7 or 8 he literally just ran at marquez and tried to take his head off and got countered and almost knocked down himself. Pac had no answers. He tried everything he knew but the punches were hurting him, especially the body shots on his hip. Marquez landed combos and Pac only landed one shot at a time when he did land. Arum was in Marquez face before the judges scorecard was read.
