Have just read this esb article on it,,have not watched it yet but,, ,,,not sure if i like the sound of it.sounds like it could be a backward step for pro boxing by it being in the media and apparently sanctioned?-surely uneducated (i mean anti-boxing ) people will link it with sanctioned boxing and jump on the ban-boxing bandwagon again... I know that it go's on all the time, and unliscensed fights are rife, and the lenny mcleans etc had made a legendary status for themselves in the past doing it...but your thoughts??
I don't have any real thoughts on it. It's always been there and always will. People can link it but they are sort of people that would link any negative report to the sport to beef up there defence against our sport. Haven't seen it and seeing as it's Bobby Gunn i don't have any real want to watch it .
yep, bobby gunn is very unwatchable,,was just suprised to see an article on esb's mainpage about it:huh
the best bare knuckle fighters do not always make the best boxers:good Gunn could be a pound for pound budding atg in this newly revived sport for all we know:deal
come to think of it,,do you know of any ex bareknucklers (new word?) who are boxing pro at the moment?
:good Yeah i saw a thread on GF about the fight. Didn't expect to see it myself. never know he could tempt Enzo into rematch.
I know a lad who boxed for England recently who was fighting unlicensed and is now pro with a large promotion in this country.
Plenty who fought in the streets id say, but a lot of previous bare knuckle boxers would not get far in boxing, so im guessing you wouldnt hear much of them. Somebody correct me if there are any though. Heard of one or two who used to fight in tough man contests.
Not really. He boxed with me as a kid and the lad he fought did as well. It was supposedly a grudge match. Very poor fight tbh....
i remember laughing uncontrollably at some i've seen,,i mean there was no slipping the jab,,and as for their footwork..
they looked like tough locals brought in from the streets, and they probably were:good As soon as Kimbo tagged them they were finished. have to give them credit for at least having a go though.
