I'm with you .. I said Manila was historic and memorial because of the fact it was Ali and Frazier fighting for the championship of each other .. I just also said that if it were not Ali and Frazier 3 and just two guys it would not be viewed as "one of the great fights " based on on the ring action.

Hi Red! Long time no talk bud! We'll catch up at some point. (Negotiating retirement at the moment :))
In retrospect I don't see the Thrilla as any ATG fight, granted a scrap I loved watching closed circuit but...
Both (sadly) were past prime at that point.
On that night Foreman would have destroyed Joe again.
And Ali, to cement his legacy, wanted no rematch with Foreman.
My somewhat limited $0.02 good bud!
    Blessings!!

Frazier`s punches did more damage than Bowe`s aside from the finshing punch in the third fight, a lot of Bowe`s punches were jabs, Frazier would have destroyed him.

FOTC also trumps Holy v Bowe 1 for skill level too.

In what way? Both Ali and Frazier fought better than Holy did in that bout, the left hook that dropped Ali was far harder than the shots that dropped Holy in that 1st bout between those two.

RC I also like Holmes vs Norton...one of my all time favorite HW fights is Mercer vs Cooper. I absolutely love that fight

Unbelievable. I'm in the wrong room. Hey maybe we can talk about a great Jung Koo Chang fight! Or another 108 pd slapfest!

I do too Bob...it was a classy, sublime 15 rounder that no heavyweight of recent years could ever hope to replicate in terms of the skill level of the two participants. I really loved a skillfully fought 15 rounder...and this was one of the last.

Bob, I think I'd put it like this:
    FOTC
    Holmes-Norton
    Manilla
    Holyfield-Bowe 1
You just reminded me of what a class act Holmes-Norton was earlier.

    Holyfield-Bowe I
    FOTC
    Holmes-Norton
    Manila

TiM was especially thrilling for people whom were actually "there" for the FOTC, Zaire, etc. For folks that either start with Manila or are just general newbs to the sport I'm sure it can seem a bit overrated. In that case, Holmes Norton and Holyfield Bowe have plenty to entertain you, instead.
