For you young guys the perfect punch is 6 inches from target there are a lot of gyms out there who teach long-distance fighting and their punches will be at least a foot away from target they'll have you step in with the punch. the problem is that if you throw a punch more then a six inches away you are open to a counter punch for example if you throw the RH at 12 inches from-the target you will be open to a checkhook if you throw the jab from 12 inches from target you can be parried with the left-hand catching the jab and their RH shooting over your jab as we see Mayweather doing. many gyms don't like to teach their fighters to go inside because there are afraid that they will be hit going inside however for a shorter man there is no way that you could not get hit coming in. Doubling up on the jab will not guarantee that you will not get hit, there other ways that one can avoid getting hit i.e slipping and sliding and bobbing and weaving or ducking whilst moving forward. if you don't have the reflexes to move your head or have problems moving the legs quickly-the other option is to come is to come in like Holyfield left arm crossed protecting the face from an uppercut with the chin down and top of the head pointing directly at the opponents head whilst throwing the right hand towards the opponents head doing a bull attack.:bbb

    :rofl

6 inches lol? are you being serious? If you and ur opponent pursed lips from that range you could probably kiss each other.

So you're saying never throw anything but hooks/uppercuts and always be close enough to go mouth to mouth with my opponent?

The problem is getting a fighter to commit to throwing a punch that's more than 6 inches away, look I've got a guy going to up for championship fight possibly in the new year and he won't throw a punch that's longer than 6 inches because in his last fight he threw a long right hand and they were nailing him in the ribs not only that but I can't get them to throw long LH because the previous fight he threw a left hook and the other guy slipped underneath it and hit him in the ribs. It gets even worse in his last Fight he fought a guy who was shorter than him and when he went inside the guy had shorter limbs and roughed him up a bit now I he won't go inside he doesn't want to fight long he wants to fight 6 inches away from the target. I always get fighters who have been countered and they don't want to commit to punches that are further than 6 inches away but speechless give me a strategy how do I get these guys to throw longer punches.

learn them the distance.. and lateral movement for holding wanted distance.

also, do lot of feints. opponent will counter feint and leave himself opened for a punch

feints will work by creating an opportunity.
