Yeah, Holmes is quite like Holy in that way. Not exceptionally talented like Ali or Tyson, but well schooled with very good all around skills and, most of all, terrific determination and will to win. The main difference is probably that Holmes had an ATG tool in his jab, while Holy didn't have anything that stuck out as much.

Yep. They were actually at their most dangerous when hurt. That's a rare quality, especially for fighters that don't have a devastating punch.

Holmes stopping Weaver is what a true champion is all about.

 

Agree. It was a close fight with Spoon but Tim made it sound like he dominated Larry Holmes and that wasn't the case.

 

He was fleeced by Don King and he was no longer interested in fighting for less than half the $ he was promised. I ust Don't think he cared anymore. Smith gave him an excuse to go down.

 

Holly was very accurate puncher bit like Hagler if watch his fights he very rarely misses anything he throws.

 

No, it wasn't. But that's mostly how fighters make it sound. That clear losses were close and that close losses really were clear wins.

 

Agree. Reminds me of Rocky Graziano saying that Tony Zale would beat Sugar Ray. Perhaps it elevates them by saying it
