That's definitely true that it would be a good enough list to make the argument; but Chad's also gotten some of the same post-fight goodwill from Adamek's success as Nonito got from Vic's. For example, I think Adamek, who was a career LHW, moving up and winning the Ring cruiserweight title and beating Bell, Banks, and Cunningham (Cunningham in particular) is a better P4P accomplishment than beating Tarver and Glen Johnson. Yet, Chad's still ranked higher; mainly from winning the head to head matchup and piggybacking off of Adamek's following cruiserweight success.
Im sorry to say but johnson, tarver and adamek **** all over just vic darchinyan! :dealwe can break both fighter's top opponents and accomplishments down!
Ya know I don't necessarily know if I agree with that. In fact, Dawson seems to get left OFF a ton of P4P lists. A lot of people don't even list him anywhere near the top 10.
Of course it's subjective man, there is no such thing as a perfect P4P list- you want Dawson over Nonito, rank 'em up that way all day long.:thumbsup The main point I was trying to make was that Dawson's rep was still increased based off what Adamek did after their fight at cruiserweight the same way Nonito's was after Vic had success at a higher weight.
Well I have Dawson in my top 10 and Donaire isn't so I hear ya. Basically though the top 10 is so subjective that I wouldn't argue it either way.
Really? I'll admit I don't follow it fanatically, but I figured Chad was around the 7-10 range these days. If he's not in it, he should be knocking on the door to get there.
Dawson gets a lot of hatred over "ducking" Cloud, Johnson for a rematch and Diaconu. Some people use that **** to try and put down what he has accomplished.
Well that what the hell are we having this discussion for if we agree on the same thing? P4P #1 carries weight but the rest is bull****!I dont think the people who called Sugar Ray Robinson the best P4P fighter in the World had a top 10 in mind...that came later.
Ahh I see what you're saying. I'm one who has criticized some of what Shaw did in managing Chad in the past and I'll gladly admit it, but some of the **** I've seen recently has been over the top. The Cloud thing, for instance, I don't put on Chad at all. It looks to me like Cloud's camp was ducking that fight for an easier title shot vs Woods, and they've cost their own fighter alot of $$$ in the process by keeping him off the networks. They made Tavoris as unattractive an option as humanly possible. The Johnson rematch, is one of the few LHW fights that makes any sort of sense for him right now. And Diaconu? I'm actually not going to **** on that because I'd still find that fight entertaining. That was one of my biggest complaints about Shaw- by giving up the title, he had zero leverage in negotiating with Tarver and now that Cloud's camp essentially screwed him, he's got no titles, no big incentive for staying at LHW and there was no incentive for the Old Dogs (Hops and Calzaghe) to fight him. He's been making the best out of it though. :thumbsup
the guy moved up and his fight day weight shows the guy should be a junior feather weight...I would say this guy has been exposed as an above average champ and not a p4p fighter
Why don't you write or email a formal protest letter to Ring Magazine P4P rankings committee? I can give you the email address... .
You are right that some fighters listed in the top ten P4P should be removed. But you are looking at the wrong fighter. There are fighters there that haven't fought for more than a year. They are the fighters that should be removed from the list to make room for more deserving fighters.
