Who does better out of these out of time matchups ? Marvin Hagler 1981 v Sugar Ray Leonard 1987 ? And Sugar Ray Leonard 1981 v Marvin Hagler 1987 ?
1) Hagler KO in 1/2 or 3 no later 2) Hagler KO in 6/7 or 8 no later I watch the 81 Kalule fight again & Leonard was getting into deep water after just 5 rounds & the stress signs were starting to show up in a big way when Kalule started whacking Leonard back & in 81 that version of Leonard would have gone toe 2 toe with Hagler as Hagler was more of a 60/40 counter punching box/fighter then, but the 87 Hagler would have smashed an 81 Leonard to bits & any version of leonard over 147 was a counterfiet in real terms:deal Hagler of 81 would do a "Caveman" Lee job on sweetlips

Stevie, just can't see it mate, we both know Marvin was a little bit tentitive in the early 80's about not getting enough respect due to his classic counter punching style & wih his moody blue coller hard done by attitude. But i just see the early 80's Hagler doing the normal slow dissecting job on Leonard & over 15 rounds he'll just shred Leonard once it's gone past 10 at the latest. Least we forget that Leonard stayed well away from Hagler for 6 years & with good reason as Leonard is one smart snake & after watching the Kalule fight:scaredas: jeezus come-on he'll be chopped to bits by Marvin slow but sure. Leonard ai'nt a natural runner:nono He's always been a plant-em spitfull **** who loves to unload in rapid volleys, but the mentality of an 81 Leonard would want to jump on Hagler but IMO that would spell certain doom as Hagler was the most pricise counterpuncher i've seen from that time. Leonard never had the speed of foot/power or reflexes over 147 to hold off a prime ATG like Hagler or anyone for that matter unless hand picked (Howard), he'd be eventually run down & HE KNEW THAT (Kevin Howard confirmed it) as Kalule smacked him all over the show with his counters now just imagine Hagler doing it & least we forget that Leonard was a media creature who knew how to work his $$$$ potential hence the fiasco's of his so called retirements which just spelled STAY AWAY FROM HAGLER & FUTURE $$$$$$$$$$$$$ WILL FLOW:smoke (Leonard = Mayweather) It's a Business after all's said & done:yep Leonard gets stopped by Hagler between 7 & 10 regardless, but the 87 Leonard was the snake that knew when to take advantage of the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ situation when it came too taking advantage of a Lion that was getting past his use by date:deal

I would agree with this..81 Hagler was probably one of the top 4 (2 for me) MW's evr to step in the ring, and the 87 version of SRL would have trouble keeping up with him even moreso than the tough fight he had with an 87 version!!! Also provided Leonard can make MW comfortably in 81 and I see no reason he could not, Leonard should cruise to a comfortable decision. One of my problems with Marv (even though I had him winning by 1) in the 87 fight was how slow he looked early on, his left hook was real wide and slow and off the mark and Leonard got off to an early lead...as he forced the action later he was able to make a fight of it that was near a draw judging by the split decision in real life and amongst fans ever since...I think a younger SRL would avoid some of those tough spots later on and take a comfortable decision. time wars for me = a split

And all this time i thought SRL was a top fighter. Given the new knowledge you've imparted, Duran goes from 6 on my ATG list to 15. I put so much stock on the Leonard victory being one of the greatest ever atsch

1981 Leonard was better than the 1987 Leonard, '81 peak Leonard wins a clear decision victory over the older 1987 Hagler. However, the 1981 Hagler would beat 1987 Leonard's a$$. Badly.
I was really pissed off when Leonard blew Hagler out in '84 after the Kevin Howard fight. Leonard could easily have carried on after that.
