I believe one Vegas hotel put out odds on a win because some high roller put down a Million dollars or so on Tyson; Douglas was 38/1; so I guess Tyson was at least 1/50 maybe even 1/66... As Al probably knows, People only used to normally bet on the under/over of a Tyson fight, hence the alleged fix, when Tyson carried Pinky past the fourth....
Ryan was given the big build up by SKY, and yes, he could bang, but it was obvious to even the most casual fan that chin was figuratively and literally going to be his downfall. Thaxton was well thought of until losing a battle to Colin Dunne, which seemed to show his level. I think an article in either Boxing News/Boxing Weekly basically told everyone to put the mortgage on the late sub. The betting pattern was even mentioned on SKY before the bout began.
Wonder if anyone on here fancies a couple of pounds on marquez, i'll have to have a look at the odds Can't resist those long odds
Think you've inspired me to have a go myself. I know you're wanting Marquez to win anyway so it's a bonus for you if you cash in as well.
Yeah i remember when you said 'i'd love to see marquez spark him', or something like that. Haha, i'll be honest though, i want to see Pacquiao-Mayweather badly, so maybe i'm wanting Floyd to come through this one to keep that fight alive. Hope Pacquiao beats him though.
By the way Al, i was in the gym in the adelphi again the other day, speaking to this old fella, 75 he was and he was taking turns on the punchbag with me! Anyway, was talking boxing with him and he was telling me how much of a nice man your dad was in the day. Don't know if he knew him, but he obviiously was a fan, he said your dad was 'class', as a fighter, and said of the top fighters he come up against. Only got his first name, but just thought you might like to hear that.
I reckon he'll stop him, but my mate was saying to me before he reckons Cotto will hurt him to the body, i really like Pac though, must be the nicest man in boxing.
