You said Arum said he was open to a fight in October. You do know November is after October right? I dont feel Clottey or any Arum fighter is ducking Williams. Arum is ducking them for him. Margo is the only one who I think would be slow to rematch Williams, just to soak up some money before he takes on the last man to beat him.
All I am saying is Williams-Margo 2 needs to happen. There's nothing to beat around the bush. I would agree that Williams should work his way up in other rankings had not beat Margo already. The thing Im more pissed off is about Arum not allowing Williams to fight any of his fighters.
"After the terrible experience I was subjected to by Paul Williams, his camp and advisor in connection with a (Kelly) Pavlik fight, I have absolutely no intention whatsoever to be involved in any fight with Mr. Williams. "Accordingly, your proposal is in all respects rejected and I would request that you do no contact me again regarding Mr. Williams."
Dude, I havent watched that fight in a while. I dont know my exact score card but I think I had Castillo up two or three points.
There were talks about making the Clottey/Williams fight on the BAD card that just took place were PW fought Verno. It didn't happen because HBO's budget for the event wasn't enough and Clottey got hurt in training on top of that. Clottey and his camp have made it clear that they still want the fight to happen, hopefully in early 2009. Why don't you provide this article you're referring to? If you do, you'll see that it was written about the Margarito and Mosely fight getting made and then mentions the letter that Arum wrote in the Summer in regards and in response to a match between Margarito and Williams purported by Goosen. I'm not denying its existence but to take it at face value today when just a couple months later Arum was attempting to put a Clottey-Williams fight together seems rather ridiculous.
And you don't think Goosen deserves any blame for his part? ALL Arum's fault? I'll bet you were willing to give Floyd a pass for facing Hatton, a guy not even seen as a top WW rather then Floyd facing Margarito or anyone else. Were you pissed at Floyd for not wanting to work whith Arum as well? Doubtful....lets hear your excuses..
Let's say margarito KO's Mosley in emphatic fashion and the Margarito legend grows, how much could he make in his Cotto rematch vs. Williams rematch (4mil from what I understand)? Is there more money for him in fighting the star he beat in a FOTY candidate, or in fighting the guy who most recently beat this emerging monster? What if the Williams camp upped the offer, to maybe 5 mil?
