    Yes i think ward would have a great chance to beat him if he smothers him..fight him like Mosley fought Margo..but he would have to really come with it...But i wonder if Stevenson can deal with his power and he also loves to counter and go backwards which will work in Kovalev's favor

    If Kov catches him early like Jeff Page jnr did. Interesting, and vice versa I suppose.

    OP, this is all good and well to say, but there's a reason why Pascal didn't drop his guard and go for broke offensively. That reason is this: Kovalev is a mean counter puncher. Going in to get at him on the front foot is asking for a game of 'let's-trade-and-see-who-goes-down-first'.

    Considering the power he has in both hands, most fighters would take one look at that scenario and say 'no thanks'. Pascal scored by waiting for Kovalev to drop his half guard for a straight right and then trying to catch him with looping lefts.

    In other words, it's not that you're wrong, but there's a reason why this sort of thing rarely works out for the people fighting Kovalev.
