Mayweather and Wright - while they were great fighters - often bored me to tears.

I'll gladly watch Vazquez, Pac, Cotto, Margarito, Pavlik, and Calzaghe any day over PBF and the Winkster.

i dont mind it.....i just think he could of used "black people"...give us some relation to the human race rather just a color because black is not our only color.

If Mayweather was a huge draw, he'd have no problems supplying himself a huge payday instead of counting on a popular opponent to help him. DLH can make over ten million fighting anyone. He is a draw. Floyd can't make 10 mill versus anyone, w/o a promoter losing a ton of money.

If someone really understands the skill it takes to be a boxer, then they understand that PBF is amazing talented. One of the reasons he gets labeled as boring is because he is so dominant. He's actually a victim of his own abilities. He doesn't brawl because he doesn't have to. He doesn't take punches because his defense is so good. He doesn't have great power so he doesn't get one punch KO's.

But, the sad reality is that a lot of fans perceive this as boring. I watched the Floyd/Oscar fight with a group of guys who are usually more interested in MMA. They all condemned the fight as incredibly boring, and commented on how Mayweather's style sucks. And these guys aren't boxing haters - when watching the Judah/Cotto fight with them they all raved afterwards what a great fight it was.

The average fan will always gravitate towards fighters and fights that are action packed. A brawler like Gatti may be vastly inferior to Mayweather when it comes to skill level, but he'll likely be held in higher regard by the average fan based purely on the entertainment value he brought into the ring. (It's ironic that one of his least entertaining fights was the beatdown Mayweather put on him.)

So, while I still maintain Floyd's recent remarks were ignorant, I suspect they came from a place of great frustration. Floyd feels underappreciated (call it Larry Holmes syndrome), and he's venting.
It's just a shame that he couldn't have vented without bringing racism into the discussion. A lot of people respect him as a fighter, but that doesn't mean they respect him as a person. And he's made that even worse with his recent blabbering.

I heard about that. Them Nigerians have like a Africa-Superior Complex because they are full blooded Africans.

Back to the point, Mayweather has a huge black fanbase. When I went to the Judah-Mayweather fight, there were a lot of blacks in the stands. Some dressed like it was prom night.

Here's the thing to remember, if they want to build a fanbase outside of one's race or outside of your profession..you got to start promoting outside of your comfort zone. I think FLoyd has done a fantastic job with his WWE and Dancing with the Stars stint.

As for Winky, he hasn't done sh*t since he got robbed against Jermain Taylor. Him AND Taylor couldn't sell for **** at Memphis which is chalk full of blacks and hillbillies.

When I went to the Juadh fight I remember most people being from New York cheering for Zab until the low blow. But Floyd did gain alot of respect that night. I was a huge Floyd fan. But now not really. But alot of blacks I know can't stand Floyd, becasue of stuff you probalry head since your from the city also.
