Can't compare DLH with Mayweather in terms of PPV buys, DLH is too far ahead and can be compared with Tyson, a bit unfair comparing those two. Still though making 325K based on his name and ONLY his name on a **** poor undercard fighting an unknown in Baldomir which was also competing with a FREE SHOWTIME heavyweight card and coming out with 325k is very impressive in my opinion considering it was PBF all alone making those numbers. Cotto made 400k fighting Mosley, if PBF fought Mosley they would've made a lot more in my opinion. Just comparing numbers here not "bragging" or making PBF look good.

Thing is, floyd is exceptionally talented, but I think racism is a bit rich here

I mean, isn't this the same guy that once called a 10 million dollar offer a slave contract?

The guys is unbelievably skilled, but seems to suffer from dellusions of grandeure and self worth

And thats the point i am trying to make

Becoming a "heel" also sells many, many tickets, as Mayweather had proven in his last couple fights.

As for Winky, "fighting the best" is hardly an option for him, being that he was avoided the better part of his career by just about every big name.

    AMEN!!!!!!!

    :happy :happy :happy

I'd rather watch a cat lick it's own balls than PFB or Winky lie on the ropes or flick out jabs.

And it is NOT a racial thing- Joan Guzman, Nate Campbell, Kendall Holt, Shane Mosley, Paul Williams, Verno Phillips, Glen Johnson, David Haye, Sam Peter, James Toney- are ALL black men who currently fight like men.

Said like a true redneck!! I'm not surprised Mayweather's comments alleging racial bias from HBO has ruffled feathers so to speak. Race has and always will evoke reaction and vitriol when mentioned as an inhibitor to fairness in any scenario.

Personally, I'm less bothered by his comments because so many of you are always quick to point out his brashness, naivety and lack of "everyday smarts" when he does or says anything in relation to boxing or his life outside the ring. He mentions race and you're all quick to lambast him for daring to say the first thing that pops into his head!!

Of all the reactions that I've read that concerns me most is the statement that Mayweather has bitten the hand that has fed him by daring to speak of HBO in this manner! HBO is in the business of making money, and I couldn't imagine that Mayweather was given an opportunity by this reputable media enterprise to showcase his boxing if someone in the organisation didn't think that he was good for business - I think an examination of the revenue made speaks for itself!

And lastly - how does mentioning race bring your boxing achievements into question??

I agree with Floyd and Winky in that the HBO announcers are certainly biased - but I would not consider it racist. They do talk trash about anyone that doesn't put their chin out and trade toe-to-toe from bell to bell. I don't know why Floyd is complaining though as they always do their best to convince everyone what a virtuoso that Floyd is. This all seems like a publicity stunt to keep Floyd's name in the press while boxing moves on without him.

So its not race based, I'll agree to that. But again lets not act like there isn't a bias there. Also can we end this crap about selling tickets and who's boring or not??

I had no idea that the Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Urango fight ws so riveting for those who keep mentioning Henry Brusseles. That fight was booked at the Miami Arena, it would have been better at a hall or something. I had no idea who Henry Brusseles was.

Whats truly sad is that so called boxing fans only think "knockouts" sell. Amazing how the former best P4P guy was able to nullify EVERY power puncher he's ever faced from bigger men, faster men. Some of you are too ignorant in the sport to realize how he does this and can only appreciate an OVERHAND right. But as someone who's actually involved in the sport I can tell you it takes incredible skill.

Again lets end this crap about boring fights because people like oscar and Ricky Hatton wish they had a series of fights like, Hernandez, Manfredy, Augustus, Corrales, Gatti, Judah and Hatton. All of which NONE of the May haters can't say were boring fights even with their limited boxing aptitude (punching, slugging).

I like the fact that Floyd did retire and he's got most of the haters STILL mentioning him in threads week by week since his announcement. You all should be happy he's gone and let him be if that were the case.

What are you talking about? Name one fight in which Floyd sold out the entire Arena on his own:think
you cant, the only fights Floyd has sold out tickets in were fights against other superstars in the sport, Gatti, De La Hoya and Judah, his fight with Baldimor I wouldnt exactly say Floyd sold those tickets had he sold those tickets most of the fans would have stayed the entire fight.
but honestly how do you figure he is such a superstar? the man cant draw flys to ****

Bazooka, his fight with Hatton was sold out in under an hour. Brits were allotted only 3,900 tickets and it was a 16,000 seat arena. If Hatton was the draw, how come his 3 previous fights(all of which were in America) were nowhere near close to selling out. Remember, Brits had unlimited access to those tickets. So in Ricky's 3 previous fights, he could only get a couple of thousand Americans to come. All of a sudden he fights Floyd and 12k Americans buy tickets in under an hour. Does it really make sense to say Hatton was the one putting ass in the seats in that fight? The answer is a definate no. It's basic common sense.

As far as the Judah fight, please tell me when Judah was ever a ticket seller; particularly in Vegas. Judah was coming off a loss and going into the p4p no.1 fighter's hometown. Now Judah had never fought on ppv, and was never a big draw. Mayweather, on the other hand, just fought on ppv, was undefeated, and had really increased his popularity with a win over the popular Gatti. Once again, does it reall make sense to say that Judah was the draw in that fight? The answer is no. Again, it's just common sense.

I can't believe you're questioning who put the asses in the seat in the Baldo fight. Seriously Bazooka, there's no question about that one. No one in the states even knows who the hell Baldomir is. No way in hell 10K people are going to show up to a fight in Vegas to see Baldomir fight. Baldomir had maybe 8 fans there and they were all memebers of his family. I bet Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan would come out to see Baldo. People were leaving because they didn't like what they were seeing. It was a 1 sided fight that beccame increasingly boring. Just because people walked out doesn't mean they didn't come to see Floyd. Plenty of people come to Citizens Bank Park to watcht the Phillies play. They sure as hell will walk out if they don't like what they're seeing.

Aztek, was the Hatton vs. Mayweather fight in England? The answer is no. Aztek, how many fights did Hatton ever sell out in America? The answer is none. None of his 3 previous fights(all of which were in America) were even close to selling out and Brits had unlimited access to tickets. Now Aztek, these are facts. Here's another fact, Hatton's fight with Mayweather sold out in under an hour. Here's another fact, Brits were alloted 3,900 tickets.

So let's recap this situation. Hatton had proved in is 3 previous fights that Americans didn't really care to see him fight. The Hatton vs. Mayweather fight was in America. Now, Hatton can sellout huge arenas in the U.K and has a ton of fans there. Now, if neither Hatton or Mayweather(as you claim) can sellout an arena in America; how come the fight was in Vegas? Here's a better question. How come Brits were only alloted 3,900 tickets?

Now there's no disputing that Floyd's ability to draw was terrible before the Gatti fight. However, things change. The Gatti fight really helped him in terms of his popularity and ability to draw a crowd. While Gatti and Hoya were the bigger draws in those fights; there's no doubt that Floyd was the bigger draw in the Hatton, Judah, and Baldo fights. And even though Gatti and Hoya were the main draws in those fights, there is no way they do those type of numbers without Floyd.

Gatti, Baldomir, Judah, Hatton, and De La Hoya. None of those guys, except Hoya, had ever fought on American ppv before fighting Floyd. Two of those guys aren't even American and have very little in the way of a fanbase in America. None of those guys, except Hoya and Gatti, are draws in America. All of those fights drew 10K+ fans. All of those fights did 300k+ in ppv buys. Finally, all of those guys made career high purses in those fights.

No, I hear where you are coming from. The Baldomir Card was a joke. Also, I wasn't trying to compare Floyd's overall numbers to DLH's numbers, that wouldn't be fair. I was trying to compare fights around the same "level." The closest I could do was when ODLH ripped off the public and fought Campas on PPV, that fight drew nearly a million buys, compared to whatever we said the number was for Floyd-Baldo. I'm really not trying to come off as a DLH nuthugger, if you've read any of my other posts I've questions if he's ever won a fight against an A fighter while they were in their prime. I enjoy watching PBF fight, and I'll also continue to watch him fight when he comes out of retirement. :)

You cant be serious man. I remember watching alot of Floyds fight an the noticing that alot of fights dont sell very well. I remember when he fighting in AC and the hbo guys that only a fiew people wondered off the board to c him fight. Gatti sold the tickets for the fight with Floyd and Oscar sold the tickets for his fight with Floyd. The same goes for Hatton as tons of english gents traveled to the usa to c the fight.
