Tomasz Adamek vs. Glen Johnson is being discussed.

According to Steve Kim, there has been talks between Main Events and Warriors Boxing to stage this fight.

Hell of a fight if it comes off. I'm all for it.

 

Glen Johnson on points.

 

I don't know what johnson walks around at, but i'm thinking that adding 15 or so pounds of muscle (if needed) might not be the best thing for glen at this stage. the guy is 40 and he's still performing well at 175, why not continue there as long as he can? messing with weight at his age might not be as easy as he thinks and it might effect him down the road. maybe it'd be a catchweight which should be fine (as adamek isn't the biggest cruiser and was lhw before).

 

A catchweight would be ideal for Johnson but Adamek would probably want to stay where he is

 

I sure hope this one isn't an April Fool's - would love to see this one.

 

This is a fight where I could be happy with any outcome. I like both guys, and as long as the ref did a good job, and the judges got it right, I'd be happy. It also seems like a very good style match up.

i'm with ya. i think i'd be cheering for johnson though cause i love the live underdogs.

 

i think at or around 180-185 pounds glen johnson's speed is a threat and adamek will not have the girth or raw power to bully him into taking unneccessary shots. johnson has maintained his reflexes and his quickness shockingly late into his career, couple that with being one of the smartest, most ghetto-vet top class journeymen in the sport and i think adamek, tough and rugged as he is, turns his punches over too slowly to catch a rock beard like johnson's with anything that undoes the foot and hand speed advantage. at 180-185 johnson by decision, but he never hurts adamek, that's for sure.

i suspect adamek knows that the cruiserweight limit, newly bumped up as it is, will be his bread and butter in a fight that will turn into a mauling, wrestling match with an undersized guy too tough and brave to back down...if it is contested at 200-pounds. additionally, adamek looks to have settled into the 200-pound frame so completely that he might have trouble making a lower cut and end up drained, that, of course, would play to johnson's tactical advantage as well.

 

If Adamek fights smart, he can beat Johnson down on the outside and not take too much punishment.

If he fights like the Briggs fights, I see a bloody brawl with both guys hurt, but glen eventually succumbing to Tomasz's power down the stretch.
